I was going to stay out of this one but can't. I am not Christian and do not bash Christianity but I must say...my morals...not even half of them come from Christianity!!!

It's not very Christ-lke to go around attacking people.
Religion is a part of morals, not the other way around. Why do people like you think you are so special. My morals do not come from a religion like yours, where people get to go around and wag their finger at every body else. Its more or less an excuse to feel special, to feel loved, to feel chosen, to feel more important in this life.
You're not. But go ahead and live your life. You'll follow your rules and go to heaven like all the other sheep, right? Your ancient book of myths and allegory is not meant to be taken literally. They are stories, parables with an esoteric underlining moral for each one. Read between the lines. And even if it werent, its been edited by HUMAN HANDS for centuries and you still treat it like God came down and handed it to you personally. Well he didn't. Understand that you are no more special than anyone else on this earth. Your holier-than-thou attitude is what gives Christians such a bad name, you are spoiling it for all the REAL christians who practice their faith while respecting others and letting them be, like Christ would. Nowadays, nobody follows the Golden Rule like they should, they just point fingers. Well have fun cuz its not getting you anywhere, throwing a tantrum that not everyone agrees with you. Face it, youre not special and youre not different, you are just another sheep in the herd, and that's fine, stay there.
People like you get so frustrated and defensive because you are conditioned into a lifestyle that tells you want you want to hear, one b.s. answer for every problem that can come up, built on a foundation of fear and ignorance. Its called brainwashing, and its for this reason that I know you won't like my answer. Darn, I won't get the 10 points. Meh.

As we are instructed, hate the sin and not the sinner, IF I choose to poke fun, it's at the attitude or point of view not the person. No, it's not a "sin" to hold a particular point of view, but it does open one to people disagreeing with that viewpoint.
If religion didn't exist in any form, people would still have "morals", they may not be called the same thing, but morality in some form would exist. so, please don't attribute the capacity for decency, etc. specifically to religion.
Now, I haven't called you any names or hung any labels on you for holding the opinions and beliefs that you do, I have addressed your throughts and words, even if you perceive it be be in a mocking tone, did I cut you down? I think not.

Where in the christian bible is there anything about democracy? How about freedom of speech?
Are you not aware that the morality in your bible came from earlier philosophies and belief systems?
Learn the history of your religion.
We care because it's shoved in our faces. Because religions try to force people to follow them through secular laws. Because it interferes with scientific advancements. Because "missionaries" go all around the world telling people that what they believe will buy them a one-way ticket to "hell," and often withhold food unless the people convert.
If you want to be left alone, leave everyone else alone.

Sorry, but prior to the Protestant Reformation, the idea of freedom of religion in Christianity was a joke (this is still true in much of the Middle East today). In the case of world history, murder was apparently justified by faith, too.
Did I mention that morality doesn't come from religion? I'm a product of my culture and I have compassion for other human beings. I support morality because it's a good set of qualities and necessary for complex civilization, not because I'm afraid of an invisible man or a pit of fire.
I only care about religious issues because they influence my life and our society's ability to tolerate different points of view and improve our technological capabilities. I tend to discuss religion when it makes inaccurate claims about science, secular life, or the natural world. Aside from that, I live and let live.

i don't beat down christians in general, just the ones who try to force their beliefs on me, so i'm not really who you're addressing in this question.
but, i do have something to say. my morals do NOT come from religion. there were morals LONG before religion entered the picture. so keep your judgement off of me.

Gee. Could it be because of that assertion that my morals and ethics can't possibly be due to my strength of character? Is it not supremely arrogant of you to assume, just because you can't stay straight without your belief system, that others can't?
Who the hell do you think you are?
Oh yeah, divinely chosen. Special.

I have good morals cause my parents taught me right from wrong...it does not have a thing to do with religion or 'God'. Your logic is illogical.
