Baal is a false god, one who doesn't exist. The people were believing a lie and turning to a god of their own understanding. God in the meantime, would give them warnings and then judgements for being so stupid. Baal could do nothing, and yet God was doing all kinds of things. That's why I say, " Stupid."

Well, Baal was an idol that the babylonians used to infect the Jews into idol worship. A moon idol. Yahweh, the God of the Jews detested Baal and its followers for preaching lies and leading people into shameful practices. That's why God sent Elijah to challenge the prophets of Baal and sent them to their doom.
It was no easy task.

Baal is a non-existing god. Yahweh cant to anything "mean" to something that doesnt exist.

ahhhh....no other gods before me.. is that admitting the people who created Jehovah/ Yahweh recognized the competion for worship?

Mt. Carmel and Elijah mythology points out that the prophets of Ashteroth were not killed, it was a competion of Lords for a Lady, as the Quaballah or Kabalah type Jews worshipped a much different 'god'
this is where we get the whole marraige stuff seemingly missing in bible but totally part of Kabalistic or secret wisdom stuff

Baal is a false god. You don't allow your enemies to have any foothold on you or they will attempt to overtake your territory. Simple fundamentals of warfare.
