What a great question!! Yes I have kneeled to pray in church, it has been a while since I have knelt at home however. I usually pray while lying in bed or in my car! Like most I have a busy life, and think about praying , when I am going to sleep, driving in my car, when I hear sirens, watching the news, and listening to others who have problems! I guess kneeling wopuld show a greater respect when we pray, but I really think that no matter what situation, or position we are in when we pray, our prayers are heard just the same! But Thanks for reminding me I really should kneel when given the opportunity!! God Bless you!(as I sit in my computer chair) Pray always!!

I doubt very seriously if you have studied the bible more that all Christians... I think you forget there are MANY of us who study the Bible, the Word of God , continually.. cover to cover... and we pray and ask for guidance and then study and study some more... And NO, your *religion* is NOT based on Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior... You are based on a *prophet* ... Why is it that you are accusing us Christians of certain things when you, by what you type , do the exact same thing ? Your holy book is based on some obscure *prophet*, who claims to know what God said or wanted.... Yet our Bible is also based on Prophets and apostles who say the same, yet we are wrong ?? Believe as you want or will, I will stick to Gods Word, and Paul is nothing more than an apostle who brought the Word to the Gentiles AFTER the Cross... Shame you don't understand that, and have to believe a lie about that and all the other JUNK you believe... Oh, well.... to each their own I guess... go in peace... God bless

I have knelt and prayed. There are a few things it does (some more spiritual than others):
-Symbolic reverence to God
-Rest my legs
-A good position to be in while about to get into bed
-Read from a book while praying
Don't view it as a requirement, but it does have it's place in the life of a Christian.

I think that there is a lot of preconcieved thought about prayer. Though I sometimes might pray kneeling, I think that it's most important to remain in contact with God throughout the day. This communication is done all day long, as much as possible. I just talk to Him, and He answers me in His own special ways. So the 'formal' prayer of kneeling can be done, but I find it so very important to continue the relationship constantly.

It use to be prostrating ones self and praying (falling flat like a straight stick) the Catholics know what I mean. The followers of Krishna do it every day. When I went to Italy when I went with an Indian friend we went to all the churches we bowed down (half prostrated) kneeling with head to floor hands straight out in front of head.

I used to more when I was younger. I haven't prayed near my bed in a long time. I pray at church kneeling.
Now, I lay in my bed and talk to God out loud, sometimes, or I think about Him and what is bothering me.

I kneel at bedtime and whenever I'm moved to. It's not necessary to kneel, but it is a sign of respect, and the act of kneeling is a reminder that you are actually talking to God. I am Episcopalian, and we joke that during church we do in-pew gymnastics because of all the sitting and standing and kneeling. Sitting for the sermon, standing for the Gospel, and kneeling for the prayers all serve as a constant reminder of the respect and honor God deserves, as well as of how unworthy we are of his love.

Kneeling is one way to ensure correct chakra alignment, which is important for spiritual communication.
Having said that, my kneecaps do not slide to the side as they should when kneeling. I was never able to kneel and pray when I used to be a christian.

The question would be, why do you think this is so important? Is it to push an agenda about kneeling in prayer? Do you have scriptural citations from the NEW Testament that require this? Are you saying this to judge others?
That said, C.S. Lewis said about posture in prayer, "What we do with our bodies affects our immortal soul."
