Hi. The output of the Onkyo is sufficient to drive most loudspeakers. The problem is all speakers add their own "sound" to whatever they are reproducing (coloration)Everybody has their own preferences when buying new speakers. Basically speakers can be divided into 3 categories.
1. Speakers that emphasize the high frequencies
2 Speakers that have mid-range prominence
3.Speakers that don't emphasize any part of their frequency range.

Klipsch speakers are dominant in the highs as they use horn loaded tweeters to give a bright sound which some people like.
JBL speakers usually emphasize the mid-range frequencies which give a forward sound to voices and singing
Most of the loudspeakers from the U.K. fit into the third category which is neutral ,in other words they have a flat frequency response and usually are more accurate at reproducing music.

Have you got speakers at the moment. Do you know the type of sound that would satisfy you from the 3 examples. How much are you prepared to spend on them. If you could let us know i can then help you with making the right choice.

Check the speaker set up on the receiver. Each speaker has volume control. You simply connect the wire to the binding post on the receiver that is marked for the left surround or back speakers. Hope this will help you out.
