I don't get how people can stomach christian 'rock'. Even the most hardcore religious fanatic must see through their pathetic pandering. Or is it all just propaganda?

I agree, most of what is labeled as "Christian Rock" (or "Contemporary Christian Music" in general) is pretty awful. I remember reading a book by Madeleine L'Engle that was partly about Christian art, and she said something to the effect of "whether it was intended to be or not, good art is always religious art." I agree! I think people who limit themselves to listening to only what is labeled as "Christian" or has an overt christian message are doing a disservice to themselves, and limiting the work of the Holy Ghost.
Of course that theory would make bad art non-religious. Or anti-religious. Which in moments of judgemental thinking I am completely and utterly inclined to agree with...

Christian 'rock' is a very small component of Christian music. Have you ever heard a Russian Orthodox choir sing? I recommend it.

Being a believer doesn't mean you have a bad "taste" in music, you just aren't allowed to listen to the good music.

Certainly, it doesn't, but sometimes that isn't at all obvious. Being unfamiliar with the genre, I can't comment further.
