Body odor is caused my many things: if you co-worker eats spice and has a tendency to sweat more than others, the spice sure comes out as stink.
He also needs to probably take a shower at least twice a day and use deordorant soap and no moisturizers because his skin needs to dry out rather than stay moist which produces more sweat.
He should also use talcum powder on his body-it absorbs the sweat.
He should also avoid synthetic fabrics because they do not breathe or aerate-he should wear cotton everything, pants, shirts, underwear -the whole shmoe.
Sorry you have to bear the brunt of it day in and day out, but someone could perhaps copy this email and send it to him surreptitiously so he won't know who sent it.
Good luck!

Body oder is caused from bacteria. Even though sweat is sterile it attracts bacteria. The same thing happens with morning breath. And there really isn't much you can do to get rid of the smell. If he sweats then he'll smell. Deoderent is suppose to soak up the sweat under the arms, since that tends to be one of most prone places to sweat. I wouldn't suggest trying to cover it up with cologne or body spray because that'll just smell worst. But you could suggest washing with a nice smelling soap (I like Irish Spring or Old Spice for my boyfriend).

He needs to bathe with a deodorant soap and use an anti-perspirent. Some people with persistent problems can even bathe with bentadyne or surgical scrub that doctors use. He should not wear the same clothing more than one day and wash his clothes thoroughly.

As ridiculous as it seems, some men think that body odor is MANLY. They think it's sexy and turns women on. EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Does he shower and use deodorant? If he showers with SOAP every day and uses deodorant, he might need something stronger -- they actually have prescription strength deodorant and anti-perspirant. He might need to consult a doctor.
