Anyone know of any decent hotels in a safe part of LA. I'm planning on going to Disneyland, so fairly close to there. As of right now, I'm looking at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in the LAX airport. Has anyone stayed there? Is that airport a really long drive to disneyland? It says 30 something miles, which isn't very far in MT but I'm not sure about CA. Any advice would help!

If you are going to visit Disneyland, you will want to stay in Anaheim. The closer to Disneyland, the better. 30 in MT is nothing like 30 miles in LA, which can easily take 90 minues.

I highly recommend the Howard Johnson Anaheim and Candy Cane Inn, which are within walking distance of the front entrance to Disneyland. You won't have to pay for parking at Disneyland, which will save you $11 per day. If you want to stay close, but not that close, stay at the Doubletree or Embassy Suites, they are excellent.

For Disneyland you want to stay in Anaheim since that is where it is at. There are some good hotels with decent rates on Ball Road and Katella Avenue which border Disneyland on it's North and South ends. Even on the East end on Harbor Blvd has a few good hotels. All these places are right across the street from Disneyland and you can shuttle in from the hotel or just walk in since it's not that far to do so.

I work at LAX. Airport hotels are all great places to stay, BUT they are over 30 miles from Disneyland and that is a hard drive with our terrible traffic. Go to the AAA (Auto Club) and get their Tour book and find a place in Anaheim. They have lots and lots of hotels and motels available. And it is a nice area. Your can try the internet with Anaheim Chamber of Commerce. Good Luck. Oops just thought of something. If you do stay at a hotel close to LAX, you can take a Disneyland Bus and Supershuttle from the Airport and not have to drive

"Cope" & "Kingsley" are both correct about getting a hotel / motel near Anaheim.

LAX is kinda all by its self so to speak. The hotels there are very nice, but mainly geared toward business travelers, not vacationers. (And they're priced accordingly)

If you stay closer to Anaheim you will be out among the "common" people so there will be shopping centers, restaurants, and other popular attractions that you won't find right next to the airport.(including the airplane noise all night long). Most of the lodging in the Anaheim area also offers shuttle service to/from Disneyland.

May I suggest that if time permits that you spend at least part of one day at nearby Huntington Beach. Sand, surf, and lots of quaint local shops to explore. A truely picturesque destination.

You are coming from a stunningly beautiful state. Welcome to California, and have a great time.
