God bless you, it can be very frustrating for the moms! My daughter has had them a few times when she was younger. I can co-miserate... she had long, fine blonde hair that came to her rear end. First off... they are passed from human to human. So, they are obviously picking it up from somewhere they keep going back to (daycare, friends, dad's?) or someone who is coming to spend the night or hang out. In case of infestation treat with the Rid or Nix, afterwards use a conditioner like Pantene Pro V, it's a great detangler. Then comb, comb, comb. Section the hair off with butterfly clamps so you can start at the bottom of the neck and work up in small, thin sections. You might want to buy a heavier duty lice comb (not the one that comes with the product), like the stainless steel ones. Condition their hair every night and run that comb through their hair. If they become infected you can catch it quicker and treat before a major infestation happens. I had read that "ESSENTIAL OIL OF LAVENDER" repels lice, so what I did when my little one was in daycare was add just a few drops (about a half of a cap full) of this to a few cups of water and used it for her final rinse (after I had rinsed the conditioner) and did not rinse that out. It made her hair smell lovely, it is not oily (it's like an alcohol actually) and she never got them when I was doing this (I was also pony tailing her hair everyday). I have suggested this to my customers and they seem to have had good luck. You are doing all of the right things as far as treatment of the kids and environment; it sounds as if they just keep getting re-exposed. If you don't have a local store to purchase essential oils, try Ebay (you might even try them for lice combs), and make sure you are getting essential oil not just lavender scented oil. Essential oil of lavender is cheap. I think that, combined with the nightly combing with the lice comb, will help tremendously. Prevention is the best defense. I also recommend you head check all kids that come to your house. Hope this helps.
P.S. If possible, set off a flea bomb at home too. If it will kill a flea, it will kill a lice. It will assure you have gotten ALL areas.

i had the same problem years ago with my daughter. I finally resorted to coating her hair in vaseline, covering it with a plastic bag and letting her sit or do whatever (as long as the bag stayed in place) for about an hour to an hour and a half. Then I once again combed the nits out. Supposedly, this will strangulate the lice. In order to get the rest of the vaseline out, you have to use a dishwashing soap like dawn. this will leave the hair particularly stripped, but it should work. use a good conditioner then comb the hair with the nit comb again, just to be sure.
A second treatment in 3 days is recommended to make sure if you missed any nits you can get them before they hatch and lay more eggs.
as for the linens and stuffed animals, either pitch them or wash them in hot water with a bottle of vinegar and put them in a hefty garbage bag for 30 days - sealed. after 30 days, vacuum all the animals and wash the linens again.
as for the beds, buy the chemical spray. Follow the directions very closely. I also sprayed my carpet and couch - anything fabric.
I spent a solid week treating my house in order to get rid of them. Remember to change the bag in the vacuum in order to get those nasty things out of your house - even if they are dead!
Good luck

You need to call your doctor and get Ovide. It stinks really bad, but it works. You put it in overnight and wash it out in the morning.
You should do every member of the family even those who don't show symptoms. Then you can be sure you got everything.
Plus spray your car, couches, etc. with the spray from the pharmacy.

just putting medicein isn't enough!!! You have to change bed sheets every morning spray the carpets and vacume every day, wash and bag all of their stuffed animals until its over, Pillow cases any cloth, Lice lay THOUSANDS OF EGGS EVERY DAY and to make it a plus the eggs are also almost invisible the wight stuff you see in their hair isn't eggs its larva (lice almost ready to hatch) Most likely they are living in your carpet and pillows and when you findly get rid of it the eggs hatch agin. Its hard to get rid of buy a lice comb and comb the larva out of their hair outside

i would put your kids' hair in shower caps overnight so the lice won't spread...and i heard that soaking your hair in mayo works.
