If you are so sure that there is not a God, then why do you keep arguing this with Christians and the like? Could it be this is more about you vs. you rather than vs. the other person?

I never argue back, I am just trying to read my bible and people get frustrated because I do, without me even saying a word.

Because of the harm to society that Christianity, and other religions do. All religions are just organized superstition. And it is tragic that people are dying over superstitions.

It is time that people get away from the emotional traps of religion and learn how to be more rational and reasonable.

Do you think slave owners asked their uppity slaves the same question? Or the men asked the suffragettes the same question when women where fighting for the vote?

I realize that these analogies are overstated. Atheists do not suffer the same level of loss of freedoms. But still, I find it ironic that you're trying to blame atheists for asserting our rights to have our views heard and debated in a public forum. I am not here because I secretly hope to become delusional again. Thanks, been there, done that. I much prefer reality. But my reality is that evangelical Christians have come much too close to permanently changing the U.S. into a de facto theocracy, and I intend to fight that trend at a grass roots level.

Antagonizing hard core Christians is fun.
I used to be an atheist, and it's so frustrating sometimes to think you're just telling the truth and the other person is so moronic, that they can't see that.
I'm an agnostic, and I've moved past the point of arguing about religion. If I think someone's wrong, I vote agree to disagree.

Nope... society provides few safe outlets for the average atheist to have a say...so the internet is the best means. Ignorant people like to say crap about us, and well we have a taste for getting to say something back without the risk of having some of these nutjobs on our doorstep.

Got a problem with that? Turn off Yahoo if so.

Could you imagine the country if, instead of building monster stone structures with expensive, ornate stained glass windows, etc, people put that money into researching the cures to many of the nastiest diseases? I'm quite certain that would make the entire world a better place.

Great question. Although I doubt you'll get a reasonable, never mind good, answer.

Christians are bad for society? Silly. Society would be NOTHING without Christians. Capitalism, gone. Patriotism, gone. US, gone. Even more pre-born babies, gone. 2/3 of all charitable donations (given to Christians and non-Christians), gone.

I don't think Athiests would have so much a problem with Christians if y'all actually stopped pushing your beliefs on us...your archaic beliefs control our country and therefore controls us.

If you are so sure there is a god, why do you argue back, or post questions like this?

No, it's about me vs them trying to control my life by telling me who to sleep with, who to love, what to teach in school, what I should and should not say, and who to vote for.
