On Off/On Off/On doesn't work. Parking brake set/released, in gear/out of gear, has no effect. I read somewhere that 98 and up Rams won't give you codes and need a diagnostic tool to read them.
Any MOPAR guys versed in these later vehicles. I've been Mopar since the 62 short rams but the newest I've owned, besides this truck is my 76 Volare. Now that I can work on! Thanks.

actually in 1996 all auto manufacturers went to the OBDII system and requires a scan tool to extract the codes from the computer if you go to autozone they can read the codes for you or you can buy a scan tool for about $50

The only fault codes I could find for 5 speed are P0730-36.
They have to do with incorrect gear ratios. Chances are that would only be triggered if you changed transmissions.
If your check engine light is on, you must hook up an OBD II compliant reader to determine the fault. A lot of parts stores will do this free.
