I just graduated high school and a lot of my friends are having graduation parties. I don't have very much money, like most high school kids and I was just wondering how much money is a good amount to give? I don't want to give too much, but I also don't want to look cheap. Also, if you have gone to any graduation parties, how much did you give?

I think $50.00 is a good amount to give a graduate. However, if you're a graduate yourself then surley they don't expect you to have too much money. And that's not what it's all about. I think a nice card would be sufficient without even explaining the fact that you couldn't get them a gift or any money. If they are friends they will truly appreciate the fact you thought to enough to send a card.

If you are a fellow graduate, then no. You are invited in order to celebrate with your friend, not so much to congratulate him. However, if your parents know your friend well, they may consider a gift. An appropriate thing for you to do would be do buy some blank cards, and write a personal message to the recently graduated host of each open house. You might write some "yearbook-style" memories and sentiments, and also thank them for inviting you, and remind them you would like to see them at your open house. In the future, once you are an established adult, when you attend an open house you're expected to bring a gift of some sort. Money, a gift card you know they'll find useful (for instance, an student planing to major in art might need an art supply store gift card in order to fund assignments), or a gift that you know they'll enjoy or even something with the name of their college on it! But for this yea, just consider some personal cards.

There's no rule that you have to give anything. You are a graduate yourself. Give a card saying congratulations, or a small gift like a pen, or if you know their plans...like college...get something for their dorm room that will remind them of home.

I graduated last year and got anywhere from 10 to 20 dollars. Congrats on graduting too.

For my friends, I didn't give money. I gave a framed picture of us from our high school days. If you don't want to buy frames, then buy cards and put the pictures in the cards. It's a nice surprise.

Give them $10 to $20 or something to use in college like supplies so they use it and remember you .
