Right now to the world islam looks like a religion of destruction. But really it is a religion that teaches to give to the poor, to respect elders, that even smiling to someone is an act of charity, that if you do not love you do not have any faith, that you cannot lie and backtalk, that you should care for the environment, that you should never be arrogant, and that if we are not ourselves forgiving why do we expect God to forgive us?
When you look at a picture of a terrorist muslim do the words humble, generous, loving, and gentle come to mind?
My religion is beautiful but no one understands it, not even so many muslims themselves

What a wonderful question, I hope it doesn't turn into an argument with people trying to impose their views on others.
My belief is that every religion has it's great philosophies. Christianity has some great principles and values as does the Muslim faith and so on. The only problem is that many religions have been misinterpreted. Many believe that Muslims are all terrorists, what a terrible misconception. I mean out of all the Muslims in the world how many are actually terrorists? It just looks that way because in a lot of Muslim countries they don't have as much money and resources as other countries so they use suicide bombings and the like to defend their way of life. Is bombing a country with planes not terrorism also?
Anyhow, the only thing that I don't like about religion is that so many people from different faiths are intollerant of others. The truly beautiful part of religion is when you accept everyone no matter what. I believe in God, the universe etc, but I don't believe we should be confined to one set of beliefs. My belief is in everyone living to their highest possible standards and contributing beyond themselves in a small or large way.
I guess religion to me actually violates what God is really about. God is about expressing yourself and living by your own individual values, not the values imposed upon you by other people.
I hope this starts some interesting conversation.
I have a page on my website that kind of sums up religion meets quantum physics, http://www.endlesshumanpotential.com/laws-of-the-universe.html with links from there to other pages that discuss more of the science of God, the universe and things that are difficult to explain.
To your continued improvement,
Chris Lyons.

Atheist doesn't believe in any supernatural and mythical characters. He needs a scientifically proof to do so. He doesn't believe in any ritual and celebrating any festivals. They are not aligned to any religion. Most of the atheists are bound to be critical of their strange practices practiced in their religion which they were previously in. He doesn't believe that going to any place of worship will make him a good person. He believe in karma that is doing a job and being a good person. This tendency also emerged in America and still there is. The Govt is running a propaganda against these atheists. Hypocrite Corrupt Tamizh Nad politicians minus Anbazhagan believe that religion should be separate from governance. That's why you see many of the rallies they don't speak about religion that much as BJP does. That is adding a bit of socialism. When people were opposing the setu samudram project Even Karunanithi said once earlier that Ram and Sita were brothers and sisters and If Ram created Setu Bridge then show me the certificate of Engineering of Ram or birth certificate of Ram. You know when these people will be a normal human being without any political power their tunes will change I bet you. As I said Hypocrite earlier that would answer Vettri Kondaan. (I don't say that atheistism is Bad but once you choose it you have no right to hurt those who practice religion. That's it)

My religion/belief system (vague Satanism) lets me rule the domain of my life without another being coming in and telling me how to live. Another thing is that I have my own feelings and thoughts in my mind that cannot be reproduced, described, or replicated in any way. That makes me feel special, even though I always feel alone in that. Maybe that's what makes it special.
The only reason I don't consider myself a Satanist is that most of the people at the C.o.S. think the rest of the world is a group of equally mediocre idiots. I think people should do what they want to and I will always respect whatever that is. Sorry for the long post.

As an atheist, this life is more worth living as I know there will not be another. My achievements and falling are all my own and not a part of a grand scheme of things. I can love freely without having to worry if it goes against a religion or belief system. I can accept full responsibilty for all that occurs to me and be content. I am completely free and it is wonderful.

Primitive people invented gods because of the awe they felt for mysteries of world they could not explain. Today's religious people still believe the stories invented by primitive people, and this belief traps them from learning truth about realty. By being free of religion, I can benefit from the sharing of knowledge gained through the scientific method. I am able to appreciate that the world/universe is far more interesting and beautiful than the primitive views of primitive peoples.

What is beautiful about my Christian belief is that Jesus died for the sins of the 'world'. Hell is refered to as the grave in which we are all coming out of. And Jesus will establish His kingdom and it will be ruled in a rightous way. The devil and his followers will be gone.

I know my life and how I live it is up to me. I can make my life good or bad. I take responsibility for my actions. I find beauty and wonder in the world in just how it came to be, the millions of years and the diversity of life. My life is mine to make of it as I will. I will try to fill it with love and joy.

Judaism gives me the religion I want with the mental freedom I need. I'm satisfied. The best part is their are thousands upon thousands of conflicting arguments. If I want to declare my cheese-and-chicken sandwich kosher, I quote Rashi's dissenting opinion on Kashrut.

I am a heathen.
The most beautiful thing about my folkways is the feeling of connection they give me to my ancestors . . . to see myself as part of a line of kin stretching back into the primordial mists of time, and forward into the unknowable future.
That, and knowing that while my godhs are not perfect, or even immortal, they are, in fact, MY godhs---culturally, ancestrally---and I . . . am good enough for them.
