The purpose of life to find God and love God with all your heart. We are required to follow God's commandment because this will correct ourselves to be like God. We need to live in this physical world in order to have free will. We can only get the free will to choose between good and evil in this physical world. And by choosing good with our own free will, we draw ourselves closer to God, knowing Him better and being more like Him. Our purpose of life is to seek out, understand and be like the attributes of God. When we understanding and fulfil this, we will be able to live in the world-to-come.

Prior to birth we lived as spirit children of our Heavenly Father. He prepared this earth with specific conditions so we could grow and develop. Sometimes it takes more than just telling us what's right and wrong -- to really understand we must experience what happens when people make both good and bad choices. We're on earth to learn how to tell the difference between right and wrong.
For example, I teach my children why honesty is important. I hope they'll obey, but I suspect they'll understand the principle better as they experience what happens when a relationship is damaged through dishonesty.
Personally I hope I can learn what I need to without making all the mistakes myself. :-)

It doesn't boggle the minds of Christians. The purpose of earthly life to to choose where we wish to spend eternity. That one decision determines whether we have been a total success or a total failure as a human being.

What do you want it's purpose to be? It may be different for everybody. You have to find your own purpose in life. Mine is to try to be the best person I can. To love and help my friends, family and neighbors.

I believe that I have found it as well. It is contained in the Bahgahvad-Gita. Life is our opportunity to prove ourselves to god. God because, he is something we cannot understand fullly, gives us free wil, while having everything already preordained. The human mind has difficulty with that one. Our pourpose is to prove ourselves to him, by choice.

To experience existence, since there was 13 billion years or so that i didn't exist(no life), therefore it's a great opportunity for me to have life and so i have to spend every moment of it as best as i could possible do. once I'm dead there's no opportunity for me to experience life again(unless you believe in reincarnation or after life of course....ha ha).
