Me - a straight atheist
or
My friend Kevin - a gay Christian

Kevin is not flamboyantly gay and does not flaunt his sexuality, neither does he hide it.

I am respectful of the beliefs of others and seldom talk about religion unless it comes up in conversation. Nonetheless, I am open about my beliefs and will talk about them freely in an appropriate setting.

I'm genuinely curious to know which one of us (if either) would make you more uncomfortable in a close social setting. I would also like to know why you feel the way you do.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Why both of you are welcome at my house, which is almost always full of kids from grade school to college age...Nana's house is always open. Believe me, if my kids or grandkids couldn't embarrass me (Hun, I've raised seven kids, and lived through the ICP), then I don't think either you or Kevin could possibly manage to make me uncomfortable. Here at Nana's house, we are free to talk about whatever is on our minds...as long as we are not vulgar or disrespectful...and as long as we keep the conversation age-appropriate when there are little people present.
I think it would be fascinating to sit and chat with an atheist and a gay Christian...as long as all three of us kept our manners and did not disrespect either of the other two. That's the key, isn't it? Respect for other human beings?

Do you have any other friends?...a third choice... LOL

Just kidding.......We would have dinner with either of you or both....We don't hate Atheists or Gays,we simply do not support either lifestyle as we interpret the biblical position on them. STOP right there....Was this presentation filled with hate? or have I expressed an opinion? I am determined to understand exactly what is meant when Christians are accused of mean-spirited hate filled jargon.

EDIT I also would like to view the many posted questions that have been initiated by a Christian, concerning the subject of homosexuality.....rather than a simply response such as this. We are not on a hate-filled crusade against homosexuals...I actually have a homosexual work aquaintence whom I respect very much....I do believe that the practice of many sins including homosexuality is forbidden in the Word of God,however.

I would like to dine with both of you and then I could find out which is a true Gentleman. But I don't think Kevin would want to dine with me. I don't think you would either, because of your dislike for Christians. So what kind of a choice it that ?? But anyway, lets go to Bishops Buffet and have a wonderful Buffet I want to have dinner with both of you together. Just don't be mean to me, and insult me in public. I am genuinely curious as to why you continue to place such lead filled baggage upon the Christians shoulders ?? You make it look as though we are snobs!! When we decide to go out to eat together, I will take the check and leave the tip. . It will be on me. Ok, Ok. I

I would like to have dinner with both of you... that sounds great! I don't condemn anyone... everyone has their reasons for being where they are in their life. I think it's fun and enlightening to have all kinds of friends.

BTW, I know how much christians have said that homosexuality is an abomination, well... pork and shellfish are called "abominations" in Leviticus too... however, I think many spiritual people would eat it... without a second thought. So why should I judge your friend? I would not judge either of you...

G-d bless and shalom.

Hummm, well I would like to choose both cuz you both sound cool. Is that a choice? Anyone who would not want to have dinner with you because of your religious or sexual preferences is not much of a Christian. And besides I am a straight christian and you might need to buddy up to not be uncomfortable around me. So where we going? My favorite place is Red Lobster. Oh, I have to bring my husband along. He would not like this dinner date with me and 2 guys, but he will be totally cool with it if he can come too. He would probably choose more of a micro-brewery type of place. Is that cool with you guys? We are free next weekend.

I'd enjoy having dinner with both of you. Neither one of you would make me uncomfortable because of your orientation or your belief system. I think we could have a good meal, a good conversation, and part as friends.

I'm Roman Catholic, just in case you were wondering.

How about both of you?

I am comfortable with who I am so I am comfortable talking to people.

And that is the real issue here, not your or your friends beliefs, but the Christians you are asking.
