Only invite them in if you want them to come in. They are the ones being rude by coming over uninvited.

Depends how close they are to you. I mean if it was my sister or someone close, then I would let them in, they would think it weird if I didnt. And honestly, if they dont accept me for who I am and judge me if my house is messy, then they are not worth having around anyways.
But I hate uninvited guests coming around. There is this lady I know, and she always wants to come in. Sometimes I just dont answer the door, and when I next see her, tell her I was out the back hanging washing or something.
Basically it is your house and you invite in who you want.
If you are going to feel uncomfortable with them coming in then dont invite them in and dont feel bad about it.

I find it to be extremely rude especially if you have a close relationship with this person. First off, no one should be coming to your house uninvited. But, I still find it even more offensive to keep someone waiting outside or to turn them away. It's your choice. I suggest you clean your house more often so that you won't have this problem.

I think it's rude of them to come over uninvited and it would be very presumptuous of them to expect to be invited in.

I think that all depends on how close you and this person are. My neighbor and I are really close so I just walk down and walk in. However I have friends that I am not all that close with and I wouldn't dream of just stopping by. I am anal about my house being a mess so I don't think its rude. But if you feel that you are apologize that you happy they stopped by but now is not a good time. Or even if its nice have them outside.

Absolutely okay. They are rude for coming over uninvited. Tell them it's not convenient for you to have them.

No, it's not rude. You can respond in two ways:
Either answer the door and say, "I'm sorry I 'wasn't expecting anyone right now and I've got other plans. Why don't you give me a call a little later and we can get together?"
Or, don't answer the door. That's what I do if I am not expecting anyone.

It's your house. You don't have to let ANYBODY in. You pay the rent, The hell what anybody says, It's arrogant of people to think you want to see them whenever they decide to drop in. I will watch you knocking through my peephole and not open the door. Depends on how I feel.
