DOES NOT LOOK GOOD!
You have no insurance, therefore the bike has no insurance!
If you was the named insurer, and your mate was a named insurer on another bike, then, you may be lucky!
But this?
Feck!

You'll get into trouble for having a motor vehicle without insurance. As for your friend, it was he who was doing the operation.
===
That would be if the police wants to let it all go. Sometimes the police would feel that getting your bike trashed is punishment enough. The worst of all is that your friend actually SUE you. I've seen cases where a person was doing another person a favor. Then in an accident the passenger (who was getting a favor) sued the driver. Hey this is America.
===
The next poster is incorrect. The insurance insures the VEHICLE not the owner. If you had insurance, it would cover the accident no matter what. There was a time when insurance company has so many clauses (person, time, condition) that after an accident they find ways not to pay. So States passed laws making basic coverage into what we call "NO FAULT" policy. That means that the insurance company cannot find fault to wiggle their way out of paying (no matter who doing the driving).

You are not responsible for his mistake. Also. The bike is not insured the person is. Check to see if he is insured. He has to provide this information. Question: How old was he. If he was underage you might be in trouble. Otherwise there is no way that you will be punished by the cops. However; there could be law suits coming from him or his parents. Trust me that will be worse than going to jail. If he is insured file a claim with his company. They must respond. If not hit up his parents. If they are reasonable at all they will pay up. If not it would be a good idea to get a lawyer and go after him. Most lawyers will work a case like this for free until there is a settlement. Technicly , you should have insurance. There is a fine line here. He was driving, he is the one that has to be insured. I think that you are clear on the insurance charge. Good luck

lots.. youll get charged with allowing the bike to be used, and found guilty.. the only way out of it is to get your mate to cop a plea. he told you he was insured blah blah blah...
hes already in deep trouble. no tax no insurance, no licence, no l plates, driving without due care and attention... criminal damage to whatever he collided with (someone owns the wall) and hell be getting a bill off the hospital for treatment as RTA injuries are not covered by the NHS, usually your ins would cover teh costs... but he hasnt got any. and neither have you... which makes you as guilty....
and whos going to repair the damage to your bike?
this will be an expensive lesson...

You will probably get done for the lot. They, the Police ,depending on how they feel could do you for no insurance and whatever else you haven't got. But since you were not riding it, I don't see how they can be that tough. It would have been better from your point of view, if you said you never gave permission. I hope you get off lightly, but you can't get inside the minds of the police.

Attractive Nuisance is what the law will call it. You did not mean to let him crash your uninsured bike. If he files a law suit against you defend your self if the hospital come after you say he rode with out your authorization. Speak To My Attorney and you better get one on retainer NOW. For about $500 you can save $10 to 100 thousand in doctors bills lab tests and cat scans. Bankruptcy loose your credit get sued you already have lost the friend but you don't know it yet. Those words "Speak to my Attorney" repeat as necessary often.

Well if they adhere to the word of the law and they probably will you will be charged for having no insurance on the bike and you mate will get done for riding a bike without insurance as well as probable reckless driving /riding , you will be fined no doubt and your mate stands a good chance of losing any license that he had if any as well as fine ! You may be even charged for the damage !

If you're in the UK, the deluge of answers from the US will do you no good.
Unless your friend already had insurance permitting him to ride other bikes, he is liable to be charged with riding without insurance. You are liable to a charge of permitting the bike to be used without insurance.
Plus anything else they may come up with, no MoT, no tax etc.

you'll get a caution and you both will have to pay for the damage to the wall and any other grieviances incurred. you may recieve an additional fine and maybe 6 penalty points on your bike license (if you have one) stupid mistake nobody got killed dont do it again oh and no insurance company will touch you unless your prepared to pay through the ring piece even for a 50cc road legal quad.

A lot fo trouble, considering the result of lending it out. You may be prosecuted for aiding and abetting a motoring offence, having an uninsured vehicle on the road, and whatever else they can prove, such as tax and m.o.t.
