Christians generally speak of love, peace, and salvation. For us all. When I've spoken to atheist they got bent out of shape. They keep arguing after I've said my piece. They even argue with themselves. They don't seem to have aversions to buddhism, taoism, the new age, satanism...etc. They don't even have this problem with islam. Some of it's prominent figures want to kill'em. No, just with the truth.

Christians believe in science. Been to school. Mixed chemicals. We just know that we are not here without purpose. Christians are actually very scientific indeed. This is why we see things the way we do. God's creation is all around us. Anything else is contradiction.

We also know that science can't explain spiritual things. It couldn't explain much until the last couple hundred years. Why did it take so long? The bible's always said that the earth was round. That there are water currents, air has weight etc. Evolutionists are STILL lookin for the missin link?...What's the issue

Christians personify everything Atheists hate.
~faith (a biggie)
~prayer
~belief in a higher power
~holy books, places, people, etc.

And so on.
Obviously science can't explain spiritual things. We can't fathom God. If we could, He would not be God.
Most Athiests have a chip on their shoulder, in my experience. (No offense meant to Athiests out there!!)

Don't get worked up about it. Remember...
"This is the verdict- Light has come into the world but men love darkness instead of the light because their deeds are evil. Whoever loves evil hates the light, and will not come into it for fear that their deeds will be exposed." ~From the 3rd chapter of John

So if the worldly, scientific Athiests hate the truth, its because of their own evil deeds. They don't want any sort of figure over them; they want total control of "their" life and come up with their own way of explaining it. No matter what, people will try to disprove Christianity because it IS truth, if that makes any sense.

Hope this helps. God bless.

To answer your original question...
Because Christians have been judging and persecuting EVERYONE else that doesn't believe what they believe for ages. Because they are hypocrites - sure always talking about love and peace, but do they really live those concepts - NO! None of the other religions you mentioned go out and actively tell them that their non belief is wrong like Christians do. Can't you see how negative as a whole Christians are? When you really take an honest look at what you represent, do you really believe Jesus would want you? You use him and all of his teachings as a scapegoat for your bad behavior that you won't take responsibility for. Don't you think that makes Jesus sad? That is why Atheists (by the way, I am not one) go off on Christians. Do you get it now?

"It couldn't explain much until the last couple hundred years. Why did it take so long? "

Ever heard of the dark ages? You know when CHRISTIANITY locked up, oppressed, and executed ANYONE who spoke against it~ It was because of this terrible period of your religion that science was stiffled and prevented from growing. EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TODAY IS IN THANKS TO SCIENCE!

"The bible's always said that the earth was round. That there are water currents, air has weight etc."

Wow, what an acheivment.

Has it invented computers?

Modern Medicine?

Was christianity responsible for getting man to the moon?

Developing planes, cars, trains?

Telescopes able to see billions of light years away and billion of years back in time?

"Evolutionists are STILL lookin for the missin link?"

Still get your information fromthe 50's? The "missing link" was discovered. The species is now called Austrolopithecus.

That you even think the veracity of Evolution is based on a previous missing link in human evolution only demonstrates your ignorance of evolution.

And before you read this as confirmation of your false notion of a persecution of christianity, I am responding to YOU, not your religion. Any hostility you may interpret is directed at how you have presented yourself, and has NOTHING to do with you being a christian.

If you had said quran and islam I would have responded the same way.

I am an atheist and celebrate Christmas. My Grandchildren are being raised Catholic. I keep my beliefs to myself, pretty much unless asked or someone tries to get me to join a their church. etc. My family knows how I feel about organized religion and they don't seem to have a problem with it. Maybe some do but they don't say anything because I don't say anything about their beliefs. I believe we should all follow our hearts. My heart hurts when I see someone trying to push their beliefs on someone else or hating someone for their beliefs. I am amazed at all the hatred spewed out of mouths of some people that are so deeply involved with one religion. I, for the life of me cannot understand why some religions (most actually) have such a problems with homosexuality. I think when a person is so anti something, it speaks volumes about who they really are. I am a live and let live sort of person. My loving Mother, who is no longer with us always said, "If we all could just treat each other the way we would like to be treated, what a wonderful world it could be."
I think we are all accountable for our actions. I also believe, if I am wrong and have to answer to a " higher power" someday. That higher power will say, " you did really good, you used your brain, didn't just believe anything pushed at you, you were kind to your fellow human beings and to all living creatures." Thanks Mom for raising me this way.

American atheists have a problem with Christians because they are living in a Christian country, and most were brought up as Christians. They know the religion, and have been proselytized often. My advice to you is that when talking to them, refrain from referring to your beliefs as "the truth." These are people who live by evidence, and presenting your religion as having a monopoly on the truth will offend them. Also, "evolutionists" is a term riddled with negative connotation, and is disingenuous, as there is no "evolutionism" or "evolutianity" to adhere to. If you want atheists to settle down or get off your back, stay off theirs, treat them respectfully, and live as if that life were your example to them, not your words.

For the record, the bible isn't a science book, and doesn't need to be. Also, you are misinformed about the "missin link." Multiple hominid species have been discovered. In the future you would be wise to leave biology out of your religious discussions.

Michael V - If God intended the world to be free of sin and death, then why is it not so? How does one thwart the plans of a supreme being? Obviously, one cannot, and so if you believe in such a being you must necessarily believe that everything is exactly how He intended it. If not, then that introduces the possibility of a fallible God, and you don't believe in that, do you?

The Bible says the earth is round, just like a pancake is round. But okay. That's besides the point.

I don't have a problem with Christianity, I do have a problem with a lot of Christians. They don't speak of love, peace and salvation. They speak of hatred, prejudice and violence.

Christians have some famous spokespersons: Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, Fred Phelps, George Bush, to name a few. It's not my religion, I didn't pick those people. These spokesmen only speak in terms of hatred, prejudice about everybody that isn't a Christian. They use the silliest straw man arguments to make their points.

Again, it's not my group, I didn't pick these spokesmen. It's not my task to constantly think "this is a good Christian, this is a bad Christian".

I want to see Christians speak up againsts these spokesmen. But they don't.

Of course I know there are a lot of loving, caring Christians. I have no problem with any of them. Hell, my girlfriend is one of them. But she also disagrees with these Christian spokesmen, self-appointed as they may be.

Mainstream Christianity doesn't speak of love, sorry to inform you about that. "Warning" people about a hell they don't believe in, is far from being a loving message. It's judgmental hatred.

Maybe Christianity should change the message a little?

*sigh*

You're generalizing both sides! You're saying that all the Christians are science-minded, pro-love and pro-peace, etc. This is NOT true. It's not even the majority. Same for atheists... you say they argue with themselves as if Christians never do (ignorant) and you say they don't have aversions to anything but Christians. Wrong. The others just don't come up as much. In the case of Buddhism and Taoism, they're not quite religions in the sense you imagine them. But I doubt you know enough to speak of them anyway.

Creation is all around us. Whether it was God who created it or some other force, we do not know. Where is your proof? The Bible? I think not.

You're just like the majority.

I'm not an atheist, I am agnostic. If you know what the definition of atheist means, atheists do not believe in any god, therefore, all religions (to them) are nonsense. If you are a regular here on YA, you will see that there is somewhat equal treatment towards the religious by myself and some atheists. Don't feel like you are being singled out....I don't care what ridiculous cult you belong to....I think all you religious nuts are gullible brainwashed fanatics!

F shot I believe you have shot yourself in the foot . Your quote , " The Bible always said that the earth was round " , How ever it does not mention " Spherical " , I will simplify this just for you ! Round means like a pancake or dinner plate , Spherical means like a ball as in tennis ball etc .
Now do you understand.? The flat earth Society however are very pleased with the bible as it supports their view of a flat earth does it not ??
Cheers Pete
