I don't understand if preaching about Jehovah is so important to your religion..Why don't they have any TV spots to teach what they want people to hear? This is the year 2007, and it seems like good common sense that to reach more people and to get more people to listen to your message that TV would be a better way to go than door to door. I know Jesus did that and you guys are trying to follow his example..but I think he would not mind if you used available resorces to teach about him. Your religion has the money..more than enough..research that for yourselves if you wonder about it. Just curious as to why that is not used as a way to reach more people. Thanks!

probably because it would expose their "bible studies" as merely lessons in rote study

the JW's ask a question then answer it using the WATCHTOWER and AWAKE....not the bible!

not even their own version

so first one reads the publication.
then the JW asks the question so the "study" reads aloud what they have read in the pamphlet.

the JW confirms what they have just read and then declares it to be true...from the pamphlets

at the KH it is the same way...they "study" the bible by rote

by repeating what is printed in their mags

lastly, they are a CULT and cults don't typically invite scrutiny or exposure...they do their conversions under secrecy

"people will now try and tell you you should NOT become a JW...that's because it is the TRUTH. don't listen to them...just stick with us we ALONE have the truth"

In the past we have used TV as well as radio and newspapers and now have a web site. The problem is people learn at different rates. While TV is good for something direct as in a special assembly or public talk, as an educational tool, it is limited.

With face to face time, you can tell if the student really gets the sense of understanding needed. Can they explain it in their own words? Does something more need to be covered? What are their questions? The questions can be on almost anything. Some, we have to scratch our heads and go research the answer, but we get it back to them. That could never be done on TV.

Plus the fact we never charge or beg for money, which is what most TV preachers every five minutes do. Our Bible studies are given freely.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Each Teachers.
They have no clergy.
Everyone has the Same responsibilities toward God.
The experience has been that whenever another medium has been used (i.e., radio or TV), opposers make a huge stink, & insist on being given equal time. So, rather than even indirectly contribute to the Hateful Propaganda that such ones Loudly Declare as fact, the organization decided to refrain from using them. After all:
the ruler of the current system of things is God's opposer...

Considering this & all that it means, it is no longer surprizing.

Also, in person, we can show each individual the answers to their questions directly from the Bible. And, that is what we do. We strongly encourage anyone who is studying the Bible, to look up & compare all Scriptures that are relevant to the subject they are considering. This is how I was taught to research the Scriptures. And, it was very beneficial to have my questions answered right when they meant the most to me, rather than waiting for them to maybe be covered by someone on TV, someday...

TV evangelism simply isn't the best way to reach people. It isn't the most cost effective way to carry out the preaching work.

Think about it. What do you do when something comes on your TV that you do not want to see? Click Turn to another channel or turn it off. That's what I do. That's what the vast majority of people do when they have no desire to watch something.

Lynn it is better for the witnesses to go door to door
If you saw me on TV Witnessing to you about Jehovah, and about all the good things that will happen once Satan is gone...how long would you listen and watch? Why waste a lot of money for television when the majority are not going to watch?Another reason is when you throw in with all the mess that's currently on TV then you get judged as just another religious outfit on TV. Their are millions of God's witnesses around the globe going door to door to give you the good news. when was the last time any good news was being given out on TV?

Because TV is expensive and the way to teach is with home bible studies.

We don't want to look as foolish and ordinary as the TV preachers.

And it is still each Christian's responsiblity to preach and teach and it is not to be put off on to a clergy preacher.

Since most house doors are slammed shut when the JW are seen approaching your house I would think that if they were on TV as well it would cause mass channel changes from whatever station they appeared . Not good for ratings !!

I asked a couple of JW's this same question while I was chatting with them in my home several years ago. Basically what they said was that they believe not only that sharing the gospel with people is Biblically mandated, but the METHOD is Biblically mandated, too. That's why they make it a point to go door to door. They're immitating the Christians in Acts.

check your history, they used to have radio broadcasts.

It does seem like that would be a good way to make truths out of the bible more known. Or even a radio station.
I don't know why they don't do that.
