***** are these good signs for introducing a new cat ***?

old cat - 8month old spayed female
new cat - 3yr old spayed female

something more to add is that the new cat Will come out of the room and walk around and the 8month old kitten will stare and follow and growl at her but the new 3yr old also gets scared sometimes and runs under the couch thats when the 8month old will follow her under there and growl at her so i dont want the new cat to be scared crapless of our punk 8month old kitten

It's always best to separate the cats . place the new cat into a small room with food and a litter box. That way the other cat will not feel that its territory is being invaded. Slowly and only for a short time every day allow the cats to see each other. I've done this And it works very well. as you know cats are very territorial.

Their behavior seems natural to me. There is always a "problem" with a new animal. However there is a trick you can try to get them to like each other "quicker". Take some perfume or cologne, something with a smell is what you want. Not a "loud" smell. Anyway dab this "odor" under their chin and on their chest. They will "smell" the same. This has worked in the past for me and for friends. Otherwise let nature takes it's course but keep an eye on them so no one gets hurt. I have a cat that absolutely hates other cats. She will snarl, growl, hiss, her claws come out if another cat gets anywhere near her. AND this all happens with a cat being on the patio outside my glass doors. I am going to have to cover the bottom of this door so Erika can not see them. All this means is cats are all different. I can't bring another cat here yet Erika loves Elly my Min Pin, so go figure.

Against the advice from all of the sites and such, I held down my elder cat (who was growling at the new one) until he stopped growling at her. They are so cute together now and he protects her.
