You should keep your cat active by playing with them. Visit www.CatChannel.com for information on things that you can do to interact and play with your cat.

I think you should get one of those pet carriers, make it into a little bed, and not let her out until you get up(like at 8 or 9am). And then put her back in at about 8 or 9pm, and then she might learn designated sleep hours. And maybe mix some catnip into her morning food, you know, to get her hyper. A good toy to give a cat or kitten is a yarn ball with catnip mixed in, it makes them crazy and active. Play with her every spare minute you have, but don't let it interfere with your life. Both you and your cat will love this routine.

Cats are nocturnal. They sleep 16 hours in a 24 hour period. They prefer to be up during the night. So basically, you do nothing- your cat is being a cat. Leave her alone.

Your cat is normal. Cats sleep 20-22 hours a day, and they like to get up at dawn, when they would be out hunting if they lived in the wild.

I've never found a way to alter either behavior in my 50 years of owning cats. The only thing that really works for me is to get up and feed the beast at dawn. Fortunately I like to get up early.

If you are concerned, take your cat to a local vet for an overall examination. Visit your local library and check out some books about cats. Learning about your kitty's behavoir and how to communicate with each other will also help you out.

Cats sleep for about 21-23 hours a day. This is perfectly normal behaviour.

No, don't try to stop it. Cats sleep. That's what they do. You might want to consider leaving some toys around the house for her to batt around, but it doesn't sound like her sleeping is a problem.

Sorry my friend, but I read that cats sleep 16-18 hrs a day. I don't think there's a whole lot you can do about it.

Leave her be. She is just sleeping normally. Don't try to make her get up and play - how would you like it if you were fast asleep and someone made you start doing stuff? ;)
