Bought in 2000 (probably) for my late wife as it was her favourite wine. Should I open it or is it already past its best???

I was a member of the French trade commisions "Campanoins Du Vin Du France" in Canada, and did buy a small supply of Pouilly Fuisse one time, it is fine now but will not last much longer, white wines unlike reds do not improve in the bottle.

I would not keep it much longer, but if you do, make sure it is stored properly, on its side in a cool dark place, I would not keep it much more than 1 more year at the most.

There's a group that suggests having a "no particular reason" night and just opening bottles that you've been saving for a special occasion. I would think of a calendar date that meant something to her: your anniversary, your first date, her birthday, and gather some people who knew her and open it up. Just in case it isn't drinkable, I'd have a bottle in reserve. I wouldn't keep it much longer.

The vielles vignes version supposedly started going off in 1998. Unfortunately, most whites don't last very long at all. You can still enjoy it, though! Drink up!
