it makes it easier for them to hate people they want to hate.
they think that by cherry-picking the bible, it makes them righteous. in fact, it only makes them hateful hypocrites.

Christianity has been through some changes in the last few hundred years. Surprisingly, some people weren't (and still aren't) paying attention.
Christianity no longer (for the most part) believes that every part of the Bible is literally true and must be followed exactly. They have come to realize, as they evolved (as a religion) that:
1) Many parts of the Bible were written for the peoples of those times;
2) It uses figurative language, such as idioms, quite often, and does not literally mean what it says every time (such as when we say, "It's raining cats and dogs");
3) It is the most important document in the development of Western civilization, and is important whether you are religious or not;
4) It was written by men (they believe inspired by God) that were not perfect, and wrote what they could, the best they could.
Only a small percentage of Christians still believe in the literal infallibility of the Bible.
Contrast this with Islam that believes (with only a small minority dissenting) that their holy texts are ALWAYS true and every law and rule and way of life in them MUST be followed.
This is why Islam seems to still be stuck in time, and why violence and things like selling their daughters and killing people that work on the Sabbath still happen.
Christians have grown. Islam has not.
You want Christians to go backward?
You're barking at the wrong people.

The Old Testament applies only to the people it was given unto, namely the ancient Israelites. Now, presuming you are not a Jew who can trace his lineage all the way back to Biblical days, the laws therein are not binding upon you. This is the same logic used when the laws of a country in which you do not reside cannot govern you. The only laws binding upon a Christian are the ones literally spoken by Christ, most of which involve loving. Incidentally, how often does a Jew in America sell his daughter into slavery? Never, because that would be a good way to get on the wrong side of the laws that are binding upon him as an American citizen.

Well, parts of the Bible was written only to the Jews, some only to the Christians, and some to everyone. And, some of it was for specific purposes at specific times. You want to follow even that part that was not meant for you to follow?

those things done were in copying the other nations around them.
they sold their daughters into slavery. they worked every day of the week.
overworking and stress can cause people to have heart attacks and die.
.
christians living under the covenant of grace may work as many days as they want to. and no one need be sold into slavery.

Listen Fool, the Bible is divided into dispensations. There
were things in OT that are for only OT. People were terrible
as they are now and were sinners, needing a Savior.
The OT people looked for the coming Messiah. We as NT
believers know who Messiah is, Jesus Christ. There are things for the future that aren't for today. But you have to
study it all, not just pick out a verse as you did and say obey
it. You just don't get it!
By the way you avatar name is adversary, it's stupid just
like your question!

Remember, if you have crushed testicles you cannot me admitted into the community of the Lord!
war-horse, I'm sure God approves of you calling someone a "fool." True Christian!
By your logic, there is no reason to obey the Ten Commandments. You are a fool and you are so oblivious to it!

It kills me that people don't understand that the book is god's word. They don't realize that we have to kill and slaverize people, it is what is clearly spelled out as acceptable.
Hey, you there, what does it say on your clothing tags? Poly cotton blend, DIE INFIDEL!
