why when i was a child cartoons, movies, tv shows were not so thoroughly revised and re revised but children during my childhood were healthier, more creative and more intelligent that today´s children?
when would people realize that when you say a child dont do/look/touch/read/listen to /watch whatever he/she will find a way to do it anyway.
Is repression a good type of education?

well you can't give them complete freedom, there needs to be something holding them back. I think you just need to educate them as well as you can, and as they learn more and experience more, just trust that you did a good job and give them more and more freedom, and hope they use it well.

There is a difference between repression & letting your children watch age- appropriate material! Also, there is a difference between censorship & turning the tv off & telling them to go find something better to do. Too many people today use the tv as a babysitter.

PS why is this a religion question?

With my 3 children I found telling them why they couldn't watch, listen, do, touch, something worked best.. When a child is given a reason and told they can make a choice to watch, listen, do, touch whatever it is later in their life they are less likely to do it behind your back...

Children respond best when given respect for their intelligence and personalities... Rather than being dictated to as if they have no intellegence... Parenting is communication it is only when that communication breaks down that major problems arise.
