Actually, I have a rather extensive vocabulary, a phenomenal grasp of grammar, not to mention a superlative understanding of syntax. I simply choose not to employ them- Especially when I kick my toe on the coffee table and it hurts.
"Bloody F-ing thing!Who moved the god-damned f-ing bloody b!tch of a coffee table!I just broke my f-ing toe!"
Swearing is much more therapeutic!!

Hi there Masonv80, If people use swear words consistently throughout their conversation, then that would be a lack of vocabulary. However, sometimes we need to swear to express an emotion and to let off steam. As they say, a little bit of something does you good! :o)

Swearing is a great way to release strong emotions. You can also use it casually around your friends.

I never swear in front of authority figures! Than it shows lack of intelligence and disrespect.

It also helps to improve you vocabulary if you can find other words to express your self. Some words in the english dictionary are extremely powerful more so than curse words.

Sometimes it's the only language appropriate for the feeling or the activity going on. When working on a car, for instance, swearing at it helps. It's one of those little undefined things. Like proper oil level. My problem is that I lack an adequate cussing vocabulary. I mean, a day like last week really required something better than the usual doggerel.

I consider it a lack of vocabulary when that is the longest and most advanced word in every sentence that comes out of them, or it is the only insult they can think up. Occasionally, I will swear but this is usually when I stub a toe, or make a huge mistake. At times there is nothing more appropriate.

I will admit this is quite an elitist belief; however, I was always told that when you express yourself, you should do it excellently, with eloquence, perfection, and class.

I have to agree with you... Sometimes if I couldn't/didn't swear, at least under my breath to myself, I'd kill someone.
Someone else said sometimes there's just no other words that fit (words to that effect) and I agree with that too.
Someone who curses ALL the time, every sentence, all the time, that's due to lack of vocabulary. But, for the occasional curse... Sometimes nothing else will work.

I normally use cuss words to "stress the emotion" that I'm feeling; it helps relieve stress. Excessive swearing can be a sign of a small vocabulary, or a lot of stress. If I get a mad enough to where I feel like cursing, I'll normally say "Bob Saget" instead of God da**it for obvious reasons.

its been said that excessive swearing is the way less intelligent people try and think of something to say quickly. or at all... either way. i swear, iwont lie, but only when i mean to. i dont use the f word every other word to get across the sky is blue or that that i had a good or bad day.
honestly i think it's pointless to do it that much. it makes you look bad anyhow.

I do swear sometimes, although there are some words that I never use.

It can occasionally be expressive, but unfortunately, some people cannot express themselves any other way.

Excessive swearing is, I think, vulgar, ignorant, incoherent and irritating.

I don't mind occasional swearing when it's appropriate. I often swear when I, say, drop something or maybe stub my toe.

What bothers me is when someone takes a particular word or handful of words (usually this is the F-word but there are variations) and starts to converse like this...

"That _____ing ______er ______ing ______ed up the _______ing piece of _______. _______ing ______!"
