How did God come to exist?
Why do you believe in God and not Zeus, Allah, Thor, or any other deity?
"Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can, but does not want to. If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. If God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?"
-Epicurus
Why did God have to rest after the sixth day if he is all-powerful?

He (the idea) came to exist when man created him.
People who believe in God are no different then people who have another religion. It's most commonly what area of the world they were born in, what their parents raised them as...etc....
Even as an atheist, I personally don't like the argument that if there was a God shouldn't there be less evil. Because people who believe in God believe that he GAVE humans free will. So humans have the choice of doing evil.
God had to rest after the 6th day because they couldn't think of anything else for him to do - and it creates "The Sabbath" where people weren't supposed to do anything. It was convenient.

Hello and allow me to speak on one thing at a time, you asked about God and the reason we understand He is who He is in The Holy Bible, now The Holy Bible was written over a 1500 period of time, by 44 persons, it has prophecy and Archaeology proof and the changed Lives, i may ask you to for proof that God does not exist. zeus and the others are not within Scripture, now the thing you asked about evil, in Hebrews 1:5-9 we read that The Father Himself says Jesus is God, in Heb.13:8 we read Jesus has always been, and in John 1 we understand Jesus is the active member of The Godhead that created us, and in the third chapter of Gen. we understand that Jesus told in verse 15 that He would someday come and destroy the works of The Devil, and someday at the end of it all In Rev.20:14 and 21:8 it is spoken of The Second DEATH, the "EFFECTS" of the fire is eternal NOT the fire itself, sin and sinners will be destroyed, GOD IS LOVE but He is The God of Justice also, you will end up with one or the other. Now the resting on the Seventh Day IS NOT for God's benifit its for ours, it is a place God set apart, come back to Gen as God created time, it says in chapter one evening and morning were the first day, evening and morning were the second so The Sabbath spoken of also in The Ten Commandments [not suggestions] is from sundown Friday until sundown Saturday and Has NEVER been switched to the first day sunday and "IF" you will email me and ask wgr88@yahoo.com i will tell you why you go to church on sunday and it IS NOT because of what the bible says, and God only can make a day holy and if HE does not make it holy YOU "DO NOT" keep it that way either, find out much more free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org God bless

Great Question:
Obviously these are deep questions that should have great conversations following them, but we are limited to a few lines. So here is a simple- to the point-without the details version.
#1- If God is "God" then he cannot be bound by time (which is his own creation). Thus, God exists outside of time and physical space- and does not need a "point" (which is time) or place of coming to existence.
#2- I'm assuming when you say "God" you are meaning the Christian "God," who goes by many other names throughout the bible. As for why, many reasons and none are short enough to put on here- email me if really you want more.
#3- Epicurus missed one key point he may have understood if he lived 400 years later. Evil has been abolished and the "time" has been set. Its just a matter of when that "end-time" comes. But as for me, I am glad that evil still exists (to a point). For if I believe that we are all less-than-perfect human beings. Then that means I was, and still can be "evil"- so I thank God for his patience and love in letting me live even thought I am (and the people I know) are not perfect.
#4- This is the concept of the Sabbath which God tried repeatedly to have the Jews follow. Why? Because God was setting a pace for life. Work, then rest, then work, then rest. Even the Asian cultures caught onto this in their concept of "zen." There is obviously more to the Sabbath than just resting, but to keep this short- I'll leave it at that.
Hope that helps, and keep on asking. Truth is not found sitting around, you must seek it out.

There's evidence that God lives because I've seen miracles all my life that the only way possible for that to happen was the intervention of God. I've seen blind eyes opened, the lame walk, cancer leave people instantly, a person healed by a brain hemrage and out the hospital in a month and back to normal when she should've been dead or retarded for the rest of her life. The reason God doesn't remove evil from the world because He made us with a free will to serve Him or not and God already destroyed the Earth once in a flood and promised us that He wouldn't destroy the Earth with floods ever again!

ALLAH is God in Arabic. So I believe in ALLAH(GOD). I don't believe in Zeus or any of the other ancient Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses because they aren't real and are false. The proof is all around you. Who do you think made the world and you and the animals and plants on Earth and the entire universe? It was God who made everything and takes everything away. God has always been in existence since the beginning of time and will always be here even after the Universe no longer exists.

Well, In my opinion, I can't go to the beach, or the mountains or any other place in the world and look at sometime beautiful without thinking there was more to it the a binding of cells. I don't think things just boomed and happened, I really believe that there is a creator.
I believe that God wasn't "resting" as mush as enjoying the things he had made. There are just too many things in all of creation that I couldn't imagine just happened.
Plus, I know the relationship I have with God.

When you're dealing with concept as vague as "God", the "evidence" can only be subjective at best.
There is absolutely no reason why perceived "acts of God", or our existence, or odd phenomena should be credited to "God" any more than they should be attributed to a flying spaghetti monster.
Seriously, substitute "Flying Spaghetti Monster" in place of "God" and see if the logic of some of these arguments ("You're proof he exists!" etc.) hold up.
As for "proof that God isn't real", well:
"Remember that the burden of proof is on the person alleging the existence of something. If someone tells me that the Easter Bunny is hiding in somebody's clothes closet somewhere in North America, there is no need for me to search every closet on the continent. The person making the claim has to produce the rabbit or stop wasting my time."

We would need a lot more space to answer your questions, maybe you should join a Bible study and learn first hand the answers before discounting as rubbish, you very life depends on it. I don't understand how someone could take so little regard for something so important. Do you really believe we came from a monkey rather than a Devine being? Where did the monkey come from? You think your smart but you only are fooling yourself.

all right in the Bible
God said bad stuff would go on.
also some evadance that God is real.
you're alive, your well, your not in the hospitle, all is going well.
yes God can abolish evil, like in sadam and gamor ( sorry i more then likely spelled the names wrong my fault ) there were no good people in the town so God distroyed the town.
and those other so called gods aren't real.
you may not be able to see God face to face but he is real.
