so solar panals are only about 4% efficient..

has anybody built a solar steam generator? and if so how efficient/feasable is it?

FYI: The latest solar voltaic panels are almost 30% efficient (the ones used on the international space station). With concentrators they are 36% efficient.

Solar One in the California desert (ARCO Solar built it) uses computerized mirror controls to focus a few acres of reflective panels onto a specific tower.
