Feel good foods. These can be something that take you down memory lane - usually associated with triggering emotions of a happier time. Though research has showed it might not only be memory induced. Take chocolate for example - a great comfort food. Not because grandma made it, but because it triggers hormones in our body that make us happy. Maybe that is the key - whether it triggers hormones that makes us happy. Most comfort foods are high in fat and calories - ice cream, chocolate, cookies, etc...they tend to give us a euphoric boost. Though, what comes up usually comes down - making us crave more of these foods. Since they perk us up, they fall into the comfort food category....For a good time, call Ben & Jerry's....

Foods that you eat when you are comfortable are you want to get comfortable with. For me some nice so delicious soy ice cream, some strawberries, a nice ripe mango. Sounds nice doesn't you should try the taste.

Good meals with family and friends. Smells that take me back to those memories. My fave is Pierogies. Takes me back to snowy nights in Pittsburgh, cooking in a warm kitchen, nice red wine with friends ...

Grandma's mashed potatoes and her goulash
Mom's cream cheese/walnut/pineapple side dish and her jello
For me it's something like mac and cheese or spaghettios. I never got to eat those as a kid.

Macaroni and cheese, hamburger helper, and chicken corn chowder! My brother, my mom, and I pretty much lived off of those foods when my parents divroced and we were living paycheck to paycheck, but it reminds me of being a kid again.
