why weren't all humans on earth at that time his "special, chosen people."
why were they just floundering around with false religions in which, for all they could figure, the sun was god? Or the Moon? or that each one of those kinds of things were gods?

In the bible, many times it talks about how god gave jews victory in battle, slaying their territorial neighbors. Because all those people were all sinfull and deserved it? Hard to believe. But then again, every single citizen in the two CITIES of sodom and gommorah was so evil that they deserved death, so maybe it is possible. (sarcasm)

God had never shone upon those people his existance or goodness or truth, leaving them as primitive people completely without god's guidance, left to worship whatever their town leaders told them to, and yet he has his special people have great victories over these other people, killing hundreds of men in battle. that does not make sense.

The purpose of god is to unite the tribe. That is, each tribe creates a god that exalts itself, and sets itself and its people (i.e., the tribe) apart from all others. This god defines and creates the tribal authority structure, rituals and culture. It teaches the people the morality and rules of the tribe. It defines what is right and wrong, and judges all people and events accordingly. Ultimately, god is a mirror of the intentions, emotions and desires of the tribe. To paraphrase the Bible: Man created god in Man’s own image.

The god of each tribe exists in the psychic domain, a spiritual level very close to the physical - it has nothing to do with authentic divinity. The religion of each tribe is a “collective consciousness” (CC) that can be accessed through our individual psychic awareness. When connected (e.g., praying, meditating), we experience the exhalation of the god we expect to find - that is the nature of a CC. The problem is that we think this is GOD, we don’t recognize that it is just a mirror of our religious beliefs. So, it appears that GOD agrees with us, but we are actually only asking a mirror to guide us - no wonder the world is so troubled.

Like all atheists or nonbelievers you twist the Bible and make up nonsense for things you are uneducated about. God has always made his existance, goodness and truth known to people. But people don't want to do things God's way, they would rather choose their own path. And what is so hard to believe about sodom and gommorah? You don't think it's possible that there was so much evil there that it needed to be destroyed? Go back and read the account of sodom and gomorrah. How many times did God tell them to change their evil way before he destroyed them? How many years did he allow for them to change? Before God destroyed the city, Abraham bargained with God and said, if he found one righteous person God wouldn't destroy the two cities. And Abraham didn't find one person.
The Jews are still God's chosen people. He never took that back from them. The Bible says, " he who blesses the Jews will be blessed, he who curses the Jews will be cursed". So if you got hatred against the Jews I suggest you check which side you're on because it's probably the wrong side.
God is continually showing his goodness, mercy and truth, but people still dont accept it. How long has the US been around and has continually become more evil day by day. Abortion, murders, child molesters, pornography, rapists, drug lords, injustice. Judges are bought and sold in public. Unfair treatment for the rich. More than 200 years God has patiently waited for the US to repent of its evil and it just gets worse. God will wipe the US off the map one day, if things dont change.

"Everybody else on earth at that time" was worshipping different gods and/or goddesses. There were deities such as Shiva and Buddha; prophets such as Mohammed; pagan idols such as the Greek and Roman gods, etc.

The reason the Bible talks about how God gave the jews victory in battle etc. is because the first five books of the bible are derived from the Pentateuch - the ancient Jewish laws, family histories, and creation stories. Much of the Old Testament is also derived from Jewish oral tradition and ancient writings. It was customary for each civilization at that time to ascribe victories to their chosen god - sort of "my daddy can beat up your daddy" on a higher level.

The meaning of the phrase "God's chosen people" is actually misleading... it's not so much that God chose THEM, but that THEY chose God.
God essentially told Abraham "here are the covenant I want you to follow; if you want to play on my team these are the rules you gotta follow."
Abraham said, "Cool, me and my peeps are down with that, sign us up."

So that's where that phrase comes from. As for the rest of it, well, obviously you've noticed the Bible doesn't make a whole lot of literal sense, and was probably written by somewhat biased authors (the winners write the history books). So don't take it too literally, remember that it's only one story... Perhaps God appeared to other people over the ages, calling them onto his team, but they interpreted his message/name/image differently, so their story sounds different. So if you read the Koran or the "Flying Spaghetti Monster's Handbook", you might find that they ALSO think of themselves as God's "chosen" people.

Everyone's a hero in their own fantasy.

There were some really bad people back then, like Goliath, they were mutants and they were corrupt like in Sodom and Gomorrah. And they were not His special people, they were his chosen people and if you really wanted to know more I would go on but by the tone in your question I can see you've already rejected your salvation , I'm sorry for you, it doesn't matter if you believe in God or not, He won't give you a free pass because you didn't want to believe, even the devil knows He's real.

The term special people isn't in agreement of what they actually are. They are God's CHOSEN people . Chosen for what? The Jewish race is the chosen race that Christ would be born through. Yes we are all special people to God but it was necessary to pick one race or the other. I can see your reading on the subject has been very selective. Could it be you are an atheist that is just proselytizing his little tiny heart out ?

What about you? What about now?
It wasn't God that strayed from mankind, but mankind that strayed from God.

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'
"Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man's design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."

Because Jews wrote the book, what do you expect? Holy crap man lol. You read any holy book from any other religion and their God "helped" them out too. This is why religions nowadays are so screwed up. No one is sure of what is true or not, we have to follow books created out of exaggerations, lies, and selfishness.
