I live in Georgetown, TX and I'm hoping to get a position at a dental office for experience because I really want to become a dentist one day. So, does anyone know any dental offices in Georgetown, Round Rock, or even Austin, TX? Oh by the way I'm only 16. Thanks a lot!

The American Dental Association has a mentoring program precisely for someone like you looking to get exposure to the field. Get involved in the program and they will refer you to dentists willing to work with students interested in the field.

Go here for more information on the ADA mentoring program: http://www.ada.org/public/careers/beadentist/mentoring.asp

Hope this helps, and good luck!

I would just cold call. Look in the phone book for dentists offices and ask if they are hiring. However, I doubt that a dentist office will hire someone who is 16. You may find a place that will let you assist in the office, but most dentists office try to find people with experience in the dental field, even for their receptionsists.

You might not be able to get a job, but to get some sort of dental experience you can volunteer. Check ADA.org for information in your area.

You can work at any office but you cant take x-rays. you take a class for that and im not certain you can do that because of your age. You dont need to go to school to be a dental assistant or registered either.

HELLO INSATIABLE,
WHAT YOU NEED TO BECOME SATISFIED WITH IS FINDING A DENTIST WHO WILL ALLOW YOU TO AUDIT SOME TIME IN HIS/HER OFFICE IN ORDER TO SEE WHAT DENTISTS DO.
W/O PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE YOU WON'T GET A JOB, BUT YOU MAY BE ALLOWED TO AUDIT THE OFFICE SO SEE WHAT'S INVOLVED. TALK TO THE DENTIST TO SEE WHAT YOU NEED TO BECOME A DENTIST.
IF YOU'RE 16 SPEAK WITH YOUR H.S. COUNSELOR AND TELL THEM YOU WANT TO BE A DENTIST, AND FIND OUT WHAT IT TAKES.
