I don't think it's illegal where I live. If it happens to be for you, he could also use his talents and make a little money by working at kids birthday parties.

I work at an alzheimer's residential care facility and the oldies LOVE kids! They may not get his tricks (even better if he makes a mistake-they wouldn't even know!) They just love seeing kids! A lot of older people in homes like that never get to see there own grandkids or maybe they dont have any so when a child comes in it is the best! It makes even the most grouchy oldie happy! :O) Plus they wont be judgmental and old people tend to be very encouraging and sweet with kids. Good luck to him! :O)

A great place to do so it a seniors home. When I was twelve I did Bingo and Read to seniors. I bet they would get a big kick out of it too. A lot of Nursing homes are very open to volunteer work by young adults.

I think its a wonderful idea. Volunteering doesn't interfer with any labor laws. In addition to nursing home, you could check hospitals, too. Maybe a children's ward, or people there for long term care.

My neighbour who is a magician (and by the way he puts on a awesome show) says that he started out that way when he was in junior high. Oh yes if your son likes to do magic by all means contact some restaurants. My neighbour also does street festivals in the summer time. When I'm in my basement or outside I can hear his doves cooing.

Child labor laws vary from state to state so you'll need to check the laws governing the state you live in. In Maine, for example, it would only be legal for him to volunteer in a nonprofit setting http://www.maine.gov/labor/labor_laws/publications/minorsguide.html . Thankfully for you, it's pretty easy to use the internet these days to search the internet for your states child labor laws.

Volunteer at a nursing home or personal care home, the older generation loves kids and loves anything they do, I don't know if a resturant would be the answer.

i would have to agree with the nursing home idea, some elderly dont get very many entertainment, i think they would love a child giving a magic show for them.
