A lot of people believe that, not just Christians. Yes, in a sense you become God. But then, it's not blasphemy if that's what you realize you always were.
A pantheist will tell you that everything is God; that when there was no universe and God created it, it was his own substance he used for the material: that's all there was. There is no such thing as non-God substance, in this view, one I like even if I can't sustain it for the long haul. To me it's too abstract. I need images of gods and goddesses to illustrate the realities.

why don't we go to the Bible for answers, thats how God Talks to us now.
see what Jesus said about he dear friend Lazirus (now remember Jesus was a Jew & taught from the OT which was the scriptures then as now)
(John 11:11-14) . . .He said these things, and after this he said to them: “Laz′a‧rus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.” 12 Therefore the disciples said to him: “Lord, if he has gone to rest, he will get well.” 13 Jesus had spoken, however, about his death. But they imagined he was speaking about taking rest in sleep. 14 At that time, therefore, Jesus said to them outspokenly: “Laz′a‧rus has died. . .
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) 5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.
(Ecclesiastes 3:18-21) 18 I, even I, have said in my heart with regard to the sons of mankind that the [true] God is going to select them, that they may see that they themselves are beasts. 19 For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. 20 All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust. 21 Who is there knowing the spirit of the sons of mankind, whether it is ascending upward; and the spirit of the beast, whether it is descending downward to the earth?
now thats what the Bible says about the condition of the dead, if you think different please tell me

No. You become one with God spiritually when you become a Christian, but death does not change that spritual relationship. We do not become God.

Your body dies, not your soul it is eternal
You are as the Angles in Heaven
You have a glorified body
Not equal to God

You are one with God now, you just don't remember it. Death removes the veil of forgetting.

We don't become one with God when we die. Either your Christian friends don't know what they're talking about or you're misunderstanding them.
