You think differently regarding time and amount of things in shopping. Maybe he just likes to go shopping directly to best thing that can solve his need and that is usually not the most low in price but most time the best option, as you may love to just go out to look what you may need. So like in many other things try to understand him and feel like him sometimes, maybe that will make him do the same. That starts a much closer relation among you two.

You should consider it a good thing. He's comparing you to someone that he's very close to, so he's creating a personal connection.....in his own guy way. Take what you can get, we're not very good at this.
