Hi there. I am a therapist and have run into this issue in my work. Although you may be mature for you age, developmentally you are still 16. I don't question your attraction to an older man, especially if he is cute HOWEVER I do most certainly would question a 23 year old MAN being attracted to a 16 year old YOUNG LADY, even though you are cute! My niece is 16 and I would karate chop any 23 year old who took interest in her. It's not the years as much as it is where you both are developmentally. Try and stick with a healthy guideline at your age of two years older and one year younger. As you get older the age span can increase. As tempting as he might be I am confident in saying that this man is not healthy in wanting to date a young lady at age 16. Please know I mean no offense to you at all and please just trust me on this one! Take care of you!

If a 23 year old is interested in a 16 year old, regardless of how mature she is, it's a problem. When you get into your 20s there is nothing really appealing about a teenager because they don't have the same life experiences you do. I suggest you get over him and find someone more suitable for you.

Maturity comes with experience Unfortunately, sometimes men use respect, friendliness and being nice to someone get someone to accept something they wouldn't accept any other way. Getting burned hurts.
I think you should find a boyfriend that you can tell off if you don't like what he offers. That way you will gain experience with what you are willing to trade for depression. That is what happens after getting burned. Boys your own age are just as willing to deceive as men.

If you have feeling for him you should go ahead and tell him you never know if he has feelings for you also. that doesn't mean just because he is older than you he's not goin to like you age dont matter only love does. If you tell him you might want to feel better letting all that love from the inside out. just take a chance and see. if you wait till your 18 it might be too late . he's gonna keep on gettin older it;s not like if he's gonna stop aging until he waits for you

If he's worth it, he'll wait until you're legal. I know what it's like to be mature for your age and want to date older guys. Give it some time. You might meet a nice guy closer to you in age soon. It's no fun to wait when there's one you like, but it's for the best.

Seven years older is a whole lot of years...It is possible that he might be more experienced in many areas of life that you aren't. I say find someone who is 20 or younger.
