Technically non-fiction; the religion section. But you know, to a librarian, it's not fiction and non-fiction, it's fiction and everything else. At least, that's the arrangement of the Dewey Decimal System. Fiction is simply alphabetized by author, and by title when there are more than one by the same author. All other books are arranged numerically by categories of subject, down to some quite fine detail, and then alphabetically by author within the same Dewey number.
When I was a kid, we had to memorize the major divisions in the Dewey Decimal System. And no, I do not recall, except that I think History is 900.

Let's get this straight. The Bible is fact, non-fiction, reality, truth, certainty, and positively true. Whether they put the Bible in the fiction or non-fiction section it doesn't change the fact the Bible is God's word and that God's word is truth. Do I make myself clear???
God is our creator, and the friend that will never fail. Trustworthy always.

Neither. It's in the reference section. In Dewey it's under 200, religion, and I don't remember anymore how it's categorized in LC. But, as it is not a novel, nor a literary work, it is neither listed as fiction nor non-fiction.

I think it belongs in the near Eastern Mythology section. If people were to read it along with the myths of Sumeria, Babylon, and the religious and mythical systems of the near East they would have a better perspective on how evolved from old religious traditions.

I don't remember there being a single event in the Bible that can be proven as historical fact that has not been. The life of Jesus is recorded by more sources then the life of Plato.
