Dale Earnhardt Jr. was penalized 100 points and was fined $100,000 for an illegal part.
Michael Waltrip was the $100,000 fine and 100-points for an unidentified substance in the carburetor.
Kurt Busch endangered a crew member in pit road and was sentenced the same? What if he hit him and seriously hurt him or worse? Add an additional $50,000? What is up with this slap on the wrist?

I seen some use phrases like because of star status and/or sponsors. I agree, but look at who the fine that NASCAR's most popular driver got and who was his sponsor. He got the same for illegal brackets plus his crew chief was suspended for 6 races. I think that cancels that idea out. So...makes me think as if NASCAR just turned their back on the members/officals of pit road. 2 thumbs down from me on this so far....next answer plz.

NO !! Kamikaze Kurt
Kurt nearly wiped out Stewart's Jackman, Jason Lee, who had to dive onto the hood of Stewart's car to escape serious injury from another one of Kurt's adolescent temper tantrums.
I knew that this will never happen, but I've got to say it anyway, it is time for NASCAR to step up and suspend Kurt Busch for a few races because of his pit road actions in Dover. When is our sport's sanctioning body going to exercise some control over the drivers who represent all of us???Here's some perspective for you... Tony Eury Jr. got suspended for six races and fined $100K for having the wrong support brackets mounted on his race car. Since Kurt did'nt receive at least equal punishment for intentionally putting a guy's life in danger then all of NASCAR's safety hype appears bogus.
HANS devices, soft walls, restrictor plates and larger cars have all been implemented to make driver safety number one, but what sort of NASCAR safety devices are in place to safeguard crew members from guys like Kurt Busch intentionally running us over???
Helmets and fire proof shoes? I don't think that's going to be enough. The only protection that crew members really have is NASCAR's responsibility to mandate a sense of control and a priority of safety from each driver while navigating pit road.
I guess now we see where NASCAR's safety priorities are once now THAT we are able to compare Kurt's "punishment" with what Tony Jr. received at Darlington.
Remember Kurt, your annual salary as a driver is five times what we make our entire careers... even if you can't show any respect for your sponsors, your fans or how you represent Roger Penske, try to grow up and show some professionalism and class as a driver.

Agreed!
That's all that Busch received, a slap on the wrist.
Would it have been the same if he had actually hit the jack man? Probably not, but it still should not have happened.
He should have received some sort of punishment for hitting Stewart's car in the pits to. Did he? Not that I've seen or heard. On that one, he was lucky that the car didn't get moved into any of the pit crew.
That jack man had the good lord on his side that day. If he hadn't of moved when he did, he would have been hit and hospitalized.
NASCAR needs to review this punishment a little more.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was penalized 100 points and fined $100,000 for an illegal part, his crew chief suspended for 6 races.
Is this the same thing? No. Dale Earnhardt Jr. wasn't jeopardizing anyone from another team.
Busch did!

NASCAR is for real. They don't want to severely penalize their stars and ruin the the flow of $$$. If someone had been hurt. Busch'd be in jail for assault with a deadly weapon, mark my words. NASCAR is just like other sports. They turn their back on the likes of Barry Bonds, TO, Kobe and any thing else that affects the flow of the $$$.

I agree with what Kyle Petty said during race commentating the other day, money means little to nothing to these drivers anymore, Nascar needs to find different , better, and stronger ways to make their point and put an end to the reckless behaviors and shifty antics plaguing the sport.

NASCAR's governing body is a joke. They've managed to show some crazy extremes in one year.

Speeding in Montana during the daytime used to be a $5 fine payable to the police officer (no this isn't a joke, nor was it very long ago). Nascar has apparently taken this attitude but to the tune of $100,000. I used to carry $5 bills in my glove box for the waiting police officers back then. Now the teams just need to budget for an additional $100,000 each year and do whatever they please. What a joke.

Pemberton said that the penalty was substantial. Wow, he loses maybe 20-30% of the weekly paycheck. Yeah, 100k is substantial to the average fan, but all it means to them is that they may have to wait an extra week to buy the next toy for themselves.

They say they value safety but they give mixed signals by not valuing life. Don't the crew members deserve to be safe?

I am really steamed, and am considering not watching the race. Guess I'll stick with FOX and watch the F1 race.

Dave Despain will definitely get an earfull from the fans on Wind Tunnel this Sunday at 9.

Truthfully, I don't fully comprehend the point of NASCAR. If I had to drive 500 miles, I would greatly like to end up in a place different than where I started.

Agree, Busch needs to be hog ties and put in the corner for a race or even two. This was "unacceptable" by all means. Nascar failed everyone on pit road this time.

I agree the fines are not fair. Otherwise Sterling Marlin would be in jail not racing. He did kill Dale Sr. when he put him into the wall on purpose.

Def. 2 BIG THUMBS DOWN! Nascar really lost sight of the real picture here, huh? Guess someone has to be seriously laid out for them to do anything. Makes one wonder what the heck they are thinking or was on their mind. I am now amazed that they even caught it.
Nascar needs to get their act together and learn from this "near miss" and take a second look at this and apply penalties accordingly!
