you dont have to hope for eternal life. If you have a personal relation ship with the Lord and know that you are a sinner and Jesus can only save you. You should not doubt that you are going to Heaven

Hebrew 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.

It is not entirely true. When you have hope you still need proof to be sure. As for eternal life, you do not have proof. So you need to master 'hope' in order to feel comfortable.

You do not have to hope for eternal life. You are promised this in John 3:16 (For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life). From the moment you become a Christian you start your eternal life with God.

who doesn't want an eternal life? A life without sufferings, pain or other afflictions. A life with love minus the heartaches, a forever with your love ones and the one who love you most. In our religion this are the promised of eternal life. I think it's only right to hope and want it.

when you hope for something you believe in it....faith is the same way...if you have faith in something you believe in things that are not seen but are true....Christ is our way to the Father....He is our hope for eternal life...we must believe in His power to save us from sin. I mean when you really think about the atonement....Christ is pleading to the Father for us....He is our mercy.....while God is Justice.....if we have truly given up all our sins to Christ and committed to follow Him for the rest of our lives with all our might, mind, and body....then mercy can take claim on us because of Christ....and satisfy the demands of justice....and we are made clean in the blood of the lamb....and can have eternal life....we must always hope for this eternal life to keep us on the right course.

Does it make any sense that all of your joys, suffering, dreams and struggles are carried to the end of your life to be met with complete and utter annihilation? Do you not want, in all humility, to join in the choir of praise at the end of time to the God who created you and this beautiful though troubled world and all of the ones you love? I don't see how one could truly live without such hope.
