I am not an athiest - I am simply pointing out what I observe. Those of you who are Christians have not done Jesus any favors with the ways you talk down to the Athiests.
This is a Religion and Spirituality board - so true - but it is not a Christian Only board. I believe the Athiests respond to the hatered they receive much more than they stir things up.
I left Christianity because of the way Christians treat the rest of the people on the planet.
If Christians want to be respected, then they have to start being respectful - I see their nasty responses all the time.

Hear hear. R&S is a constant stream of "atheists" (who seem to include everyone who does not ascribe to a specific form of Christianity) vs self-righteous Christians. Everyone's sneering at each other, but few people take the time to say "Hey, you're both right, now relax and go enjoy your life!"
The debate is impossible to solve, anyway, because one side demands proof and the other demands faith - you can never come to a solution if you're arguing about different problems.

Most of the answers to this question are rather pathetic.
If this is the "Religion & Spirituality" section, then "Religion & Spirituality" is what should be discussed - wether the beliefs for the paticular topic are for it or against. This isn't the Christianity board. And to be fair, many athiests give as good as they get.

ok, listen up here, i'm christian and i couldn't care less if my friends are athiest! ok? obviously you are irritated at christains. i can't blame you because a lot of people want to make people that they know follow their religion. but still, it's not just christains. so dont direct it at christians, ok? a lot of my friends don't believe that there is a god and i still love all of them. they're my friends and what they believe in doesn't change a thing abuot how i feel about them. no one should be able to change the type of person that you are. so don't talk bad about christains.

Its simple, Christians are threatened by science. Their parents and grandparents believed in god so it must be right. No matter how much proof is put in front of them they always go back to the book of harry potter....im sorry the bible and read some more stories that were written 1000's of years ago by people much stupider than we are today.

I'm new,I'm a Unitarian and I don't know what site category you're reading but if it's this one,you must be looking in a fun house mirror. All I see are hundreds of highly aggressive and insulting postings by atheists. Sheer vitriol,most of it. I'm utterly shocked,and said as much yesterday only to find myself the object of an unimaginable outpouring of filth and insults. Believe me,I'm as objective as anyone you're ever going to find,and it is not Christians harrassing atheists - quite the other way around. As I'm sure you know. You're just a hypocrite.

Nah, I have a close friend that is Atheist. I call him at midnight sometimes and say "Dude, why don't you believe?!?!!".
They come to expect things like that :)
