Your cat is doing what nature made his boy parts to do.... He's looking for that purrrfect girl cat to impregnant, and he's willing to fight to the death to attain his goal.

Neutering his stop most of the fighting and all the wandering. Fighting can be because he's not getting along. Cat politics are somewhat mysterious.

Cats are social animals. They like to visit. Your guy will be a visitor not a lover/fighter once you neuter him. He will also stay close to home. Boy cats will wander far for sex. Boy cats will will die for sex. Neuter the guy.

Neutering the young male cat will also lenghten his life for a number reasons:
1. less fighting/injury
2. less exposure to nasty diseases from blood exchanges (fighting)
3. less hormones
4. less time away from home.

His quality of life and yours will improve significantly for the $35 it will cost to neuter the guy.

The world is not short of domestic cats. Neuter your buddy.

He wouldn't behave like this if you had him neutered. (spayed is the term for females)

Your cat is displaying classic tom cat behaviour. He's going out for days on end fighting to win a female, and then impregnating her (or losing the fight). Trust me when I say castrating him would make a large difference!

PLEASE have your cat neutered. It's your duty as a responsible pet owner, because at the moment you're contributing to the overpopulation of cats, and risking your cat getting some serious (and expensive) injuries. It will stop him roaming and fighting.

Spaying him may calm him down some but most likley it wont stop the fighting. If you want your cat to live a long happy life Id suggest you make him an indoor cat and keep that way its way more safer anyways and idoor cats live longer then outside cats anyways. Just like the first girl said he could get feline aids I work for an animal clinic and its very common and spreads easily and regular shots do not protect against that.

He is just telling the other cats in the "hood" that he's the man. I had a Tom cat just like that when i was younger, he was a wonderful cat indoors and outdoors. He lived a long and healthy life. Just remember they have insurance for all kinds of animals. not that expensive at all, so if there is a major fight you can take him to the animal E.R. and there wont be large charges without an appointment. I would look it up..

He needs to be neutered. That is why he is wandering off and fighting. There are diseases he can get from fighting such as FIV (like AIDS for cats) and feline leukemia so it is important to stop him. Why not just keep him inside?

He needs to be neutered and kept indoors. Those are the only two things that might help at this point.

There really isn't anything you can do but keep him indoors. Tomcats fight with each other. Neutring may help, but it sounds like it's probably too late for that.
