I don't remember last time a car mechanic tried shoving his theory of why a V6 engine is so smooth down my throat or a scientist banging on the door at 8am to prove Archimedes proncipal in my bath tub? So why are they constantly trying to tell us they love 'Jesus' If you are male and say this, by the way, you are a homosexual sinner...mm

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10

And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:15,16

Some Christians are overbearing, and there is reason behind this, but none of which you have labelled.

Some believe that they must proselyte in order to get into heaven. Some want to defend their position against those who criticize.

I am a Christian and will certainly ask/answer questions here on Y!A, but only to seek clarification from others or to clarify my own beliefs. I do not push my religion on others. However, having once been an atheist who is now Christian, I know how much more joy and happiness a religious life has brought me compared to the torment I once felt that life had no meaning.

I do want others to know how happy coming to know God can make them, but I do not shove it down their throats. Those around me know of my religious affiliation and if they should choose to discuss it, I am certainly eager to do so, but if they are not, that's fine too.

BTW, I hope you do realize that there are different meanings for the word "love." The love we Christians feel for Jesus is not romantic or sexual. I'm almost certain that you realize this and are only trying to stir up contention, and if so... then it's shameful to say the least.

The reason that no one "harasses" you about those things is because they are not disputed and can be scientifically and physically observable. God, on the other hand, requires faith--not stock knowledge. No one (with right mind) disputes gravity or that the sky is blue because it doesn't require faith. And to everyone that thinks we are just giving ourselves false confidence, hearing myself does nothing. It has nothing to do with me or my ability to assure faith. God exists even when I don't call on Him and when you don't. I tell people about His love (at the appropriate time and with love afforded to me by His Spirit) because I believe it is the truth and the only way. If it seems we are overly passionate, maybe it is because we care and believe that, ultimately, one chooses where to spend eternity. And if they aren't told about God's love...then who will tell them? I don't get extra points or gold stars, but I am called to serve and preach the Gospel because it means eternal life with Him. It's not a marketing strategy and I am not securing a band of followers for myself, so it can't be because I have a frail confidence in my God.
As for the homosexuality thing, are you gay for loving your father, brother, or grandfather?

I do remember atheists trying to shove the Fairy Tale of Evolution and atheism down our throats, so perhaps the same question could be asked of you... are you asking this question because you are just trying to reassure yourself as you know that atheism is not real?

The psychology card is a double-edged sword. You might want to remember that before you cut yourself on it again.

Yes exactly, its because religion is starting to get old, its not modern enough to keep up with today’s youth and adults, and its growing smaller, so the religious people are scared that they will lose their religion as a major factor for power etc. and so they try to ram the "truth" and :"fear" down your throat, to gain new believers, but what they don’t realize is how infective this is, and its actually doing more damage to their image (ever wonder why Buddhism is gaining in popularity, they dont use fear) they also don’t realize how dated there ideas are, and how against scientific discovery they must deny to keep believing.

Part of being a Christian is spreading the good Word. Some people are over zealous and can come off 'preachy' and self righteous, but I just chock it up to poor commumication skills. Jesus was a teacher, not a preacher. :)

Man you really need to work on your grammar/diction. Just reading this question hurts my head.

I think the answer would be (if I got the question right) that Christians believe it is a commandment to tell other people about God, and that's why they try to "shove it down your throat."

you have no longer have been given the begining clue of ways Christians think of in this undertaking... or you does no longer be so avid on your tries to deliver inquiries to the undertaking.... The acceptance of God into one's existence and coronary heart is it fairly is very own "reassurance".... How do you already know.... and what psychological reassurance do you seek for once you "sense" which you "love" somebody... or, that they "love" you ? is this no longer some thing which you purely purely "understand" ? you actual won't be able to SEE your love... or the affection of yet another for you ... Tangle with that one for awhile....Einstein.... ? ////

as Christians Christ told us to be a light in the world of darkness , its our job to tell people about Jesus , just like it was Noah's job to warn people about the flood coming, if you don't want to accept Christ that's fine so don't , but when you are before god then you can't use the excuse that nobody told you , but also you know no christian wants you to be in eternity without god , so that's why we try telling people

In Hebrew there are at least thirteen different words for 'love'.

In English, there is one.

But I don't honestly think if I explained it to you properly that you'd even listen.

Just because you choose not to believe doesn't make God not exist, silly.
