Philosophers have kicked this one around for millennia. The scientific answer is NO: if one knew all the data that a person had received during his entire lifetime, one could determine how that person would act in a particular circumstance. But that is clearly impossible; a free-will model (which, like any model, is an approximation) is useful and corresponds adequately with observed reality.

Yes, we absolutely have a will; which is the cause for much of what occurs in this world.

The destruction, famine, and disease problems just to name a few; many people unfortunately are blaming God...when the truth is, much are things created by the people of this world.

Do you thinkGod is causing the ozone layer to be depleated>>>?? No...it's the world destroying their own world.
What people must understand is that God will not touch our will....and the devil can't (he doesn't even have access...only influence).

So, if you want things to change; first start by changing yourself.
Your tomorrow will only be different if you do something different today.

No. Free will is a literal impossibility in the universe we find ourselves in.

Our brain is perfectly computational.

--------------

Why is it that people believe the fact we make choices is free will?

I go to the ATM. I put in my card and my pin number. I tell the machine, "Give me US$1,000,000." It promptly chooses to tell me, "Sorry, you don't have that much money in your account." It could have chosen to say, "Ah, here you go sir!"

But the choice was made before I ever told the machine to give me the money... the choice was contained in my US$2,450.67 balance. The choice made was predetermined.

If choice means free will... then my computer has free will.

Yes. God created us with free will and that's why there's pain/suffering in the world. I don't know why people complain about that when it's our fault after all.

Yes they do. We are in charge of our own actions. That is one way we are made in the image of God we have free will.

It's either that or having to be made to do something. Having free will makes us accountable for our own decisions.

Yes I believe that we do have free will. We can choose which actions we take or don't take.

Atheists do, christians do not (they only think they do, but with the threat of believe in god or go to hell, it kind of negates free will for them).
