When I was growing up, my generation was taught that pizza was not only delicious - but nutritious and so good for you. Afterall, it contained all of the major food groups in one bite! We were encouraged to eat it for breakfast - and often did. Then you have to realize, that it was also in my generation when, for the purpose of school lunches, ketchup/catsup was seriously considered a vegetable!
Though over the years, this way of thinking has changed - thank god! Even the food pyramid has changed. And yes, while pizza often contains ingredients from many of the major food groups it is definately not very healthy for you. If you consider the amount of fat, sodium, calories, carbohydrates, and cholesterol - pizza is a heart attack in the making. Are all pizza's bad for you? No, but you probably would not be interested in the ones that aren't as bad for you: No meat, no cheese. Your looking at a true Italian pizza - thin crust, sauce and tomatoes - nothing else. Instead of wondering which pizza is good for you, try going 6 months without pizza then having some - I became so ill, that pizza is rarely ever in my diet any more. Good luck in your quest!

not sure about by the slice.... would say pizza hut stuffed crust with cheese, cheese, pinapple and more cheese..... delicious but to be avoided at all costs if you're on a diet! for the healthiest i'd go with a thin and crispy topped with veg, but you're still looking at a crazy number of calories so better off doing without!

Make your own. Most importantly... portion control. Just have a little bit, don't over indulge. If we name a healthier place and you eat more pizza there than you would at a less healthier place, that just cancels out... You can also try wrapping the pizza in napkins to remove all the oil first before you eat it

Not sure if this chain is outside of Chicago, but Edwardo's pizza is delicious and uses very fresh, natural ingredients. I love their garlic pizza. They use fresh slices of elephant garlic instead of the minced garlic from a can/jar.
