It's the difference between being a Christian in word and being a Christian in deed. It is not enough to do the things a Christian should do, but one must also truly BELIEVE what a Christian should believe. Many people just go through the motions (going to church, giving tithes, singing in choir, whatever) without ever really believing what they say the believe. Also, the reverse is true, because many who really believe do not act as if they do. They do the same things as everyone else, even though they know it's wrong. a "genuine," "real," or "true" Christian is one who both believes and acts in a manner which reflects their beliefs.

Nominal Christians are people who just go to church but don't do much else.
"Real" Christians are hard to call. You can't ever judge someone's heart or see inside them, especially over the internet on a bunch of text. "Real" Christians have a heart after God and are in the right place with Him, seeking Him and learning about Him as much as they can.
But generally, you can tell a person by the way they act.
So someone acting like they've got a good relationship with God will most likely be deemed a "real" Christian.
So people who preach fire and brimstone aren't nominal Christians or "real" Christians because they do more than go to church but aren't employing the best methods to spread the Word.

Christ is the perfect Christian and a role model for us. Those who mirror him the best are good christians. But as for Real or Genuine, none of us are perfect and all fail at some point.

There are many people who are involved in religions that call themselves Christians, but true Christians have a spiritual relationship with God caused by them being born into God's spiritual family. It takes place through faith in Jesus Christ. Only a true Christian can fully understand what is being talked about. People who are not true ones, think Christianity is an intellectual or emotional matter, when in reality it is a spiritual.

Christianity, that is - living according to Christ's teachings, has not yet been put into practice. If it were, we would have a whole different world. Read in Matthew the Sermon on the Mount and you will see what I mean.
At Arès (see The Revelation of Arès) God said that so few have lived according to His WIll that it would be easy for a small child to count them.

It's a matter of opinion, based on which denomination of Christianity you belong to. It's in the eye of the beholder.
For example, Johnny (Catholic) will say that Susy (Protestant) is not a genuine Christian.

There is NO such thing as genuine, in another words its like asking, is anyone perfect? well! the answer will still remain "NO"
Who are we to judge? people who call themselves religious and genuine are the very same people who do harm and hurt people, in worst possible way, just like my mother, she has been religious all her life, but what she has done to me, I alone know.
Then again there are some, you can say nice and wise people who are religious and God fearing, looking out for you, trying to help people and stay to themselves and never judge nobody.

Basically, in their religion it is ok to judge for them on who is actually a real christian or not. They base this judgement off of how well they think they themselves rank versus comparing it to how they think the other people rank. It's based off an elaborate system of ranking of self worth and qualitative sinning.
Hopes that helps clarify it.

Faith is absolutely essential to life. We cannot do a thing without first having the faith to do them. You can not type another stroke without faith that you can. Faith precedes our every action. If we do not have sufficient faith to do a thing, then we simply do not do it. Now then, faith in God is belief that he is real, that he cares and that he loves and provides for his faithful. If you do not have such a faith then even though he is there, he cannot and will not help you. So be careful where you place your faith. I can believe that Zeus can save me - but he cannot because he is non-existant. So that would be a waste of faith. The unbelievers believe that God is not real - entirely in faith We believe that he is real -- entirely in faith But we both cannot be right. It's all the same faith - we just invest it differently.
