Not entirely confusing if you remain thinking in linear format. "Time" is a line you say, forwards-backwards; no side ways up or down.

What you looking for is the amount of "deaths" versus the amount of births" and seeing if there is a nexus-connection?

Is this correct ?

If so, you will seek that elusive nexus and if found you may not recognize it.

I cannot go into great detail as "time" is limited...:), I must ask you to think outside your linear box of space-time-death and perceptions -and "life" as you percieve it. Please Consider the following :

Consider "time-space and your physical world" a facade, "a false front" with nothing behind it.

The above is all a stage, a Tool so to speak and you are actor - producer and stage hand; the roles you play are many and in different stages you do not percieve;

Consider you are "consciouness" within a physical body and all you see, hear and feel is a co-operative stage you set; and all for the purposes of "spiritual evolution"; the physical stage set builds your character as the physical life, eventualy, is unforgiving in nature AND FROM THIS you learn to creat and to learn to discipline your own thoughts.

Your "soul" as you say, is your personality, and "higher awarness" as you are more than yopu are "aware" off and awarness is the essence of "consciousness". When I speak of awarness I speak of knowing more about the true nature of reality, "God" and so on; yet, that awareness is not "total" and there are many realms "above" you in spiritual evolution with a higher awarness yet; the realms are endless on boundless and ever expanding; at the "End" of that thought is a concept we call "God"; and there is no language available to describe that "perfection" in All that Is; this is consciousness in the concept" "I AM".

How long does it take a soul to " move" to another body?

Consider that you are of a higher awareness, yet, grounded in physical form, you are unaware of "the rest of you"; had you been this aware, no physical lesson you learn in this life would carry weight as it would hold no value. Why? Consider that, if you knew all the pain, suffering, torment, joy that you encounter is of your making, you would learn to "turn off" that reality switch as it would , at times, be too unpleaseant and as you would be aware that you alone "cpntrolled it"; you would not place it in your "reality box" that makes the world the world...

Getting back to you original question: Consider that reincarnation is a non-linear event and that "time" as you percieve it is linear and in a straght line; yet, in the true nature of reality, "time" is happening "all at once"; events, time periods and so fourth is "you, your consciousness, skipping around"; this is to say, your higher awarness has a multi-personalitiy existence, and any "time" you percieve is your Focul point; today, as you read this, you focul point is June, 2007AD; yet, "at this very moment" all time is running at once and is non-linear, therefore, "you live all your reincarnations at once"; yes, you are in AD 56 , so to speak, living the life of a Roman Soldier, or Greek Farmer, the choices were made by you prior to "birth"; yet, perceptualy speaking, you will enter and re-enter a physical form from life to life as this perceptual issue is a rule of physical life Governed by the true nature of reality.

You may argue and sqiurm a little and say: " how can I be "aware" in this life, who is "aware" in my body in AD56 if it is happening Now ?

THIS IS YOU THINKING "INSIDE" YOUR BOX, linear in thought, notice how habitual it is?

Think far above where you are at Now; Look "down" and see "all the personalities you own" in the "different times"and then, you can view that your actively "you" in each life, all at once as you are Much More than you allow yourself to percieve in "this life"; this is truly far outside of your box.

Have you ever considered the nature of Deja-Vu? Notice how absolutely "real" it appears; hey, did'nt we just do this, or haven't we been here before; or, "I know you"...what's your name again?...

A dream, a thought, a fabrication of memory; yet, it's impact is emotional and this is a clue.

Thoughts and emotions creat reality.

Consider this your expanded consciousness evolving and rubbing elbows with the very fabric of "God" and reality.

Souls can incarnate immediately after death, or not. Most spend time in contemplation, considering how and what they will go about doing in their next life. It is very personal. Then there is that whole thing about time really only applying here, so while in the various states of bardo (Buddhist afterlife) there really is no time.....

edit; I understand that consciousness/soul can enter an infant upon birth, or later. Some souls are in and out, still determining if they want to stay, but will solidify into the body as late as 2 years.
My son was like that, and I could feel his essence leave, and then return just before he would wake up. Sometimes his body would jump, just as he came in..... and the look of utter shock on his face when he opened his eyes and looked around was proof enough for me that he had been somewhere else much more to his liking than here.

There are actually more people alive today on earth that the combined total of all people who ever lived before anyone alive today was born. So if reincarnation is true there must also be new souls who are inhabiting a body for their first lifetime. I would think a soul transfer would happen immediately given this population boom we are experiencing.

ok this is a theory i've toyed with for a while. you know how people die and say they see the light at the end of the tunnel. it is also said that when one person dies another one is born. so what if the still born babies are people that died saw the light at the end of the tunnel and then someone brought them back to life so they didn't completely make it into their "new body" so the baby died and the person lived on. that could also be why babies can't speak when they are born so that they can't tell us what happened. we have autistic kids that can play music they have never seen or heard before (beatoven, bach, etc.) who's to say they aren't the reincarnated artists.

i would say birth sense they are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. i'm thinking light at the end of the vagina.

I was told that regular soul would take about 500 years before it takes on another body. However, there are souls who also have to transfer sooner because of a mission given to be accomplished in a shorter journey through time.
Lobsang Rampa is one example whose body is decaying because of many ailments but his soul still needed to be around and so his soul immediately took on a body whose soul is ready to leave. Search him on the internet and you may find him interesting.

Interesting...and maybe schizophrenia is just a result of reincarnated persons having two souls getting confused over which body to go into...thereby creating two or more distinct personalities in one body.

¬Thats a very deep question. I've sometimes wondered that myself.

I would image it was up to the individual. Perhaps they wait untill they are ready. Maybe they stay and watch over loved ones untill they are all reunited again and then cross over into thier new lives together. Or when they feel they are ready, and thier loved ones left behind are ready to let them go and don't need thier guidence anymore they go for it. I would wait for my family personally.

I know what you mean and I wondered this too. The way I felt was that when you die you take time to realize your true state for a bit. Then when you want to play you use your creativity and imagination to join with a new vessel.

Need 130 years or more. Not every soul get reborn as soon as the time is up, so you cannot really calculate.

from the cases I have studied
those who die of natural causes and live a fairly long life ... may not come back , but if they do it may take decades or centuries
the cases of people who immediatly reincarnate seem to be those who have died unnaturally at a young age
