Aloe Vera. The gel from the plant. Pull a leaf off the plant, split it open and apply the gel directly to the burn. Do this several times a day.

A few years ago my husband got a pretty big 2nd degree burn on the back of his leg, and didn't want to go to the doctor immediately. I put aloe vera gel on it, and it helped a lot. When I finally got him to go to the doctor with it, they told him the aloe vera had been a very good thing to do.

But, you do need to have medical treatment. The dead skin on top of that burn can cause a major infection.

You never self treat a third degree burn for one thing if it's a real third degree burn you would be in more pain than you'd ever been in and it needs to be treated by a doctor. You don't have any skin left with a third degree burn and usually have to have a graft. There is a VERY high likely hood of infection to the point where you could use your leg if not treated promptly. Don't try it, go to the doctor or hospital it's your best bet. for a healthy future. My father was in the NY FD for thirty years and taught us how to teat burns, No matter the severity you never but something on it for at least the first 15 minutes to half hour. You should run it under COLD water until it no longer burns than if its' a first or second degree burn and you don't want to go to the hospital get some silver dine cream or something made especially for burns. Don't cover a really bad burn with anything because it might stick to the skin and make it worse when it has to come off. Call the EMTS for a bad burn they now how to treat it until you get to a doctor. I hope this helps to keep you safe and healthy.

How do you know that you have a third degree burn?? Third degree burns are full thickness burns meaning you have burned all the way through the skin down to the underlying tissue (bone, muscle, tendon, etc). If this is the case you need immediate medical attention due to the risk of infection, loss of fluid, and risk of shock. I am assuming that you do not have a third degree burn because you probably wouldn't be looking for answers on yahoo. If you have a first or second degree burn then the best treatment is to put a sterile dressing over the burn (4x4 gauze) and wrap that with an ace bandage. Keep changing the gauze on a frequent basis.

How do you know this is a third degree burn? Third degree burns need medical attention. It is important that burns heal from the bottom up. Otherwise, they infect and then you have more problems and bigger scars in the end.

If it's truly a third degree burn, don't put anything on it. You could cause an infection. Get to the hospital ASAP!

A third degree burn requires a doctor weather big or small. Do not self medicate as this could only lead to infection. Please don't hesitate to go to the doctors asap. Sorry it happened, feel better soon.

a 3rd degree burn causes no pain because the nerves have been burned along with everything else. the only thing to do in the case of 3rd degree is PROMPT medical treatment.

Third degree burns need medical attention. They are deep and serious, and should NOT be self-treated. If that's really what you have, get to a doctor.
