ok, back in the days, about 13 years ago i handled mercury from a broken thermometer, i was young so to me it looked like fun, so i played with it for a while and lost it in one room, im guessing it stayed there somewhere separated like it does when you drop it....i read a list about low dose poisoning symptoms and quite a few seem to fit me...does anyone know if the amount on a thermometer can be enough to poison me and if that small amount that stayed in the room lasted in there or decipated away??? can anyone help?? thanks

It is unlikely that the thermometer contained mercury as it hasn't been used for that purpose since the 1970s. Even if it was an old thermometer it contained metallic mercury or quicksilver and that is not readily absorbed through the skin. Unless you drank the stuff, you should be OK. Search elsewhere for an explanation for your symptoms.

Mercury is a metal as defined by the periodic table. Doc2 means elemental mercury. I would be worried if the room was hot causing vaporization of the mercury, rather than just touching it (which is still not really recommended). Still it wouldn't hurt to voice your concerns to your doctor at your next checkup.
