It could be that you're vain, it could be that you have a compulsion to do it, you could be always curious what you look like at any given moment, there are as many reasons to do it as there are people who do it.
I know someone who glances at nearly every reflective surface she passes, I don't know her reasoning, I've always thought this to be a compulsion, just as she looks at things that move in her peripheral vision.

Well it probably means that you have only ever been appreciated for your looks, so you have become incredibly insecure. You have to constantly look in the mirror to reassure yourself that you are something of value.
