Sorry the paragraph shows how to use “they’re.” The additional detail shows how to use all three.

I am deeply wounded. I've been using they're/their/there correctly for about fifty years and so have my peers. We all learned that in elementary school. Now, as America continues it's post-modern decline, spelling, grammar, and punctuation appear to be relics of the past. Many people don't even bother to use capital letters anymore, which makes reading their text about as easy as walking barefoot on broken glass. How does America's literary deterioration affect me spiritually? It breaks my heart.

The rule never changed. There are three different types...

1) There: Adriane threw the ball over THERE.
2) Their: Adriane threw the ball into THEIR garden.
3) They're: They're probably angry that their rhododendrons are ruined.

"They're" is used as a shortening of "They are", "their" is indicative of ownership, and "there" is indicative of a direction or location.

And it doesn't effect me spiritually or religiously. It's basic grammar, not the Bible.

Ah yes, the ignorance of America's Youth. About 4 years ago a radio station in California called in 100 high school graduates to take a 'test'. Here are some of the questions: Who wrote the Gettysburg Address? 72% of these graduates got the wrong answer. What document begins with "We the People..." 58% of the graduates got the wrong answer. What two countries was the Cold War between? 87% of HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES got the wrong answer.

Kids would rather play with their cell phones, iPods, Playstations, XBox's and get strung out on alcohol and drugs than learn. Its sad.

The rule hasn't changed, but the percentage of ignorance about it has increased.

Spiritually, this has reminded me that appearance is not true reality. A poorly spelled, poorly expressed opinion
can be as true and valid as a grammatically expressed one.
(I hate admitting this by the way).

And I have seen a lot of kindness and unconditional acceptance expressed in poor grammar and spelling, as well as a lot of rude and insulting words.

So I am reminded not to judge.

"Bout the same time which witch came along. And I am deeply affected spiritually by their being there in the first place since they're in doubt about which witch is which!.
By the way, before anyone gets offended, this is my feeble attempt at humor!

We are supposed to make sure to point out any spelling errors right away to the person that makes them.

It is in the tradition of the English peoples!

What are you talking about? I don't see any errors in that link, and it has no effect on my religion or spirituality.

Bad grammar is the curse of our age. Spiritually, I am concerned that people who refuse to learn the language will be unable to put forth intelligent discussion on the matter.

This shakes my confidence in an all-powerful God who speaks to people. Obviously, He misspells things, too.

I never got the memo but it drives me crazy to see there, they're and their all used interchangeably as if they all had the same meaning.

Education in the US sucks.
