I was awaken early this morning by a very strange feeling, like an electric shock running through my body. It was like an electrical zapping, that went from my head and then out my right foot! It kind of made me quiver all over. It was storming outside, and honestly, for a moment, I wondered if I'd been somehow struck lightly by lightning!

Was this possibly just a vivid dream that woke me up? Or what in the world was it?

I have experienced a trembling feeling some time back, may be similar to some kind of vibrating shock. This was a time when I used to chant "Vishnusahasra Namam" at least two times a day. During that period, I was sincerely trying very innocently to adhere to the teachings of Great Sages of Hinduism. Later in Life, one Sage, who could see past, present and future of many told me without me describing anything to him, that I was very close to God at that time and had I continued my innocent searches further little bit more, I would have really struck with the Divine Light for permanent. At that time, I was going thru a lot of problems and agony in personal life, that for the practicalities and material gains, I had to deviate from that path of severe austerities with rigourous perseverance in thought, word and deed. Perhaps I was afraid to go further into more uncertainties with Absolute Faith in God and His powers and systems. People, including near and dear started calling me Mad and no one could understand what I was trying to pursue. They were very upset, why I was not trying to pursue my career in life for a comfortable living. Even I was not very sure what I was attempting at.

I opted for easier paths of material comforts, that popped out from nowhere at that time, perhaps deluding me into the pleasures and pains of this world.

Now a days, I do not feel myself to have that Pure and Innocent mind, which I possessed at that time.

This Sage also said to me that Innocence is the key to reach God, which perhaps I lost already by then, by the time I met him, may be never to regain, may be to regain again.

At this point of time this Sage also said to me that Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is God Incarnate, may be because he saw, my Sai inclination to be very strong.

May be, in your case, if it's something like an Initiation directly from God, you may see a bit more embarassing moments in life pulling you to be satisfied with lesser benefits, the pressures of making material gains and a door also may open for you, pushing you into it. That's what happened with me. Idealism and innocence was then gone gradually and crookedness for making money replaced it.

Now, may be I am trying get back to my old ways, but with so much of knowledge of material world, its pulls and counter pulls, innocence seems to be a very distant one to achieve back again.

All the Best to you to crack the Nuts, if you are able to .

Well, I'm a little paranoid, I guess, but I'd make sure your heater doesn't have any damage and that it's working properly - even though it shouldn't shock you unless you have a leak in your mattress. Water conducts electricity, but it has to have access to the source.

I have a friend whose house was struck by lightning and he was in a cast iron tub. I guess it struck the water line and conducted the electricity to the tub. It threw him out of the water and stunned him pretty badly, but he was okay.

I think if it was the lightning, you'd know it.

I could be that you were dreaming something very intense - or that you maybe stopped breathing for a moment if you have sleep apnea - and the start it gave you felt electric.

If you heard the storm, you may well have incorporated it into your dream.

Check your waterbed out anyway - just in case. ;o)

You could have been part of an electrical surge. The electricity could have used your body to find a ground. It is a good thing that you were in bed and not getting out and stepping onto the floor.

Have your home/apt/whatever checked by the electric company, or electrician to verify the place has a proper electrical ground.

PS- It also could be a "ghost" j/k, but maybe???

Well, I don't know about this one, but sometimes I feel as if a chill is rising up my spine, or something very close to that, and I shudder all over.It happens when I experience an intense emotion, like when I'm reflecting hard on something & realization suddenly dawns on me.
Maybe, u were having some sort of spiritual experience somewhere in ur subconscious mind & a really strong one that jerked u up from sleep.

My house was struck by lightning once, it blew a hole in it ten feet by ten feet wide. I don't think there's a way of being 'lightly' struck by lightning, lightning is serious business.

You were either dreaming, stuck your finger in an electrical outlet, or had an intense orgasm.

probably there was a lightning strike nearby and by a process known as induction an intense but brief current was triggered in your waterbed's heating that then shocked you. It is unlikely to kill.

Your subconscience often tries to make sense out of the tings you hear while you are sleeping.

Most likely you heard lightning then dreamt that you were hit.
