It depends what kind of psychologist you plan to be. Just over 1/2 of all psychologists are clinical psychologists, working with mentally ill clients or doing counselling/therapy. The rest work as school psychologists, Industrial/organizational psychologists, social psychologists (doing, for example, jury selection and trial prep), ergonomic psychologists, educational psychologists, and so on. The salaries will vary greatly depending on the nature of the work you do and the location (state) you do it in.

BTW, do NOT believe the first answer. First of all, psychologists can NOT prescribe meds. That requires an MD -- usually a psychiatrist. Clinical psychologists do NOT attend med school.

Psychologists do not earn $100 or more per session. They may charge that much per session, but once they pay their overhead, things like insurance, office staff, supplies, and everything else that goes into running an office, it's a lot less. And there isn't an insurance company in the world that will even pay the full $100. And a lot of patients won't pay you the full amount, or any amount for that matter. That does not mean they don't make a decent living, but you aren't going to get rich!

average psychologist may earn $100 dollars a session or more. if he prescribes meds it is in the range of $275 and up for one session. an average doctor earns $20 to $40 dollars and up, if he/she is really @ the top of their profession. good luck to you.
