I had this problem & have several cats so it was hard to figure out which one was doing it as the cat would only do it when I was out of the house. Turns out he has a urinary tract infection - however, you must get rid of the odor or they (or another cat if you have one) may wet on it again. Get him checked at the vet. If the stove is an electric one, throw out the metal drip pans under the burners if those have been urinated on & replace them (you can buy them at walmart). Clean stove really well - my stove burners are inset into a top that lifts up - so clean really well under them. Use a cleaner made for pet stains & odors that contains enzymes, like "Out!". Oh, and this is really fun (not) - turn on the oven & burners to burn off any remaining urine - even if you think you have it cleaned & spotless, its probably not & this really reeks, so air out the house well during or afterward.

Oh dear...first make sure there are no medical problems with kitty. If not, confine him to a small space with a litter box until he figures out that is where he is supposed to go.
I have one that goes in the bathtub, but I have never heard of the stove thing...good luck!

What I use is duct tape over a few mothballs - so the cat cannot get to it, and believe me they hate the smell.
For peace of mind also have the cat get to the vet for a checkup, to ensure nothing like UTI is happening.

I don't have the answer, but may have an explanation. Cats will do that if you have mice. Also because they are"pissed" at you for some thing. I kick my cats outside for a while and that usually straightens them out.

First get them fixed, second put them on the porch. They will not leave if they are fixed and fed.
